Lowest poly count always the best?
Is it always better to close your model off? I have been thinking of this question for quite a while now. It often costs polygons to do so and it can sometimes even cost you extra texture space. On the other hand. I have also seen some models perform poorly in light baking / shadowing due to this. So I have this mirror… -

I think its a terrible article, as anyone at a studio who's been with a meeting with Autodesk - who often show up with a half a dozen Maya developers would know: the entire dev team is not 20 people. He starts by estimating that "Animation" has a 110M revenue, and then concludes that they must be spending only 3M on Maya… -

110% more cracks, pock marks and broken tiles! Most of those subtle edge details in between the bricks will get washed out at lower resolutions. Add in the occasional tilted or missing brick. Think about bringing in other elements like roots, leaves or other material types to make it a little more interesting. -
