Awesome, thanks for the fixes/improvements :) For the smoothing, would it be possible to also have, or instead of smooth by Angle? So faces could be smoothed be 45degrees or something. So then, if we turbosmooth with smoothing groups, it isnt all the same.
My work uses Redshift, which apparently has a different smoothing algorithm to Maya's default OpenSubdive Catmull-Clark. In Maya's default smoothing, border and corner vertices are not pulled. In Redshift smoothing, all verts are pulled to the next vert, whether or not it is a border vertex. This requires support loops to…
Looks to me like your smoothing groups are messed up. Using Max or Maya? If you're using Max go into Edit Poly > Polygon Smoothing Groups > Click Auto Smooth The problem is that your smoothing groups are wrapping around to another section of the mesh. Auto smooth should get things pretty close. You can assign your own…
I imported this model into 3ds max. applying edit poly modifiers breaks the smoothing groups in it. How do I preserve smoothing group while applying the modifiers.
I'm learning Zbrush right now and I'm having some major troubles with smoothing. When I hold down shift, the smooth tool acts all weird, as shown below. I smoothed out the eyelids just to illustrate my point. Can anyone here help me out?
I could be completely wrong about this, but I though Max uses face smoothing rather than edge smoothing. In Edit Poly, using the Polygon selection, scroll down in the toolbar. you'll see the 32 buttons for smoothing. Select the faces you want to smooth and give them one smoothing groups. If you want a hard edge, use a…
