well for my spare time stuff , optimisation is not 'too' much of a a concern. I think my korean scene has about 300 materials. But my current setup still handles it quite well after I did a bunch of tweaks on the settings. I do use renderman sometimes which is much slowers then cycles, so it will be nice to see how the new… -

The Micro: $299 3D printer on kickstarter
Kickstarter Seems pretty cool, the first time a 3D printer has really seemed affordable (to me at least!) I'm really tempted to pick one up, does anyone have any experience with these filament spool printers? I know the resolution is supposed to be a lot worse than the SL printers but how much worse? Even if I wanted to buy it, how? I was telling my wife last night they would sell it for $499-599. Why? Because it is slightly more than an iPod, so they know their target market can buy it. -

I know just a few basic stuff to make a character, but still so vague. I want help with this model. I think it could be much better if I polish more the character. The problem is that the mesh is broken and kinda messy to even try to fix. I can send the file if anyone wants to do something with it. -

You know what I don't get? Some of those people who will be buying the PS3 on ebay for thousands of dollars are probably some of the same people who complained when Sony announced that they would cost $499-$599 per unit. -
Re: Monitor buying help!
I've been eyeballing this one. It hangs around $599 usually, but I have seen it go down to $499 during a sale (should have nabbed it but waited too long). From what I can tell, it should be a terrific monitor, plus the new all-black casing is great IMO.
