Hello everyone, let me start off by saying, I wish I saw this contest a lot earlier! Namely because I literally just finished a very similar project maybe a week or so ago. I learned a lot from it, especially on the recall animation, so hopefully I can apply what i learned to my official entry! If you want to check out…
Hey Gaming World! I'm a senior VFX artist with 30 years of Hollywood experience. The VFX industry is not going well at all so I'm jumping into the gaming industry, hoping to make a demo for a game I have in mind. I will have to adapt my modeling and look dev to Unreal's restrictions (We don't really care about polycount in…
Just a quick writeup as I just went through the process myself for the first time. But the workflow is the same as doing any high to low bake: * Going to Unreal. * 3DS Max, RizomUV, and Substance Painter (I set up my own export preset). * Starts out with ref gathering and note taking. Drawovers in Photoshop and deciding…
@DimosM yes I need this kind of feedback! Ive been working hard to nail the anatomy but its almost impossible to tell whats going on in the comic book reference so I used some real reference and some comic reference and tried to make the 2 work together, obviously its not quite there yet as you guys are spotting issues.…

As for the Maxscript...I feel so lost, I still cant get it to work and it seems I have to restart max everytime I want to see it run with the new changes, it takes ages to try it out. I'm not a technical artist and just wanted to have a quick go at doing something that would save…

Your character is wearing some pretty tight pants so he…
I'm no expert, but the shirt is better right now then the pants. It would seem that your shadow levels don't seem to match. on the shirt, it dissapears into blackness in the shadows, whereas on the pants, it's much lighter in the shadows. the highlights on the pants look a bit flat as well, especially on the very bottom.…
actually also unwrapped in and did the baking.. started texturing too! left with the head, hair and cape textures. The wip render here is from marmoset wanted to post the retopo wip first but i couldn't wait to start doing the baking and texturing; alot more interesting than the retopo process tbh
"Now I'm a bit confused. I tried asking if he made the chain image himself by rendering it in blender or baking in painter similar to a trim sheet, OR, if he found it on google." It doesn't matter. It really, really doesn't ! That's why you won't get any definitive answers on this kind of question. The only thing you need…
