I look forward to trying these out. Substance Procedural Textures: This looks to be the most promising of the featured updates. I already work this way with standard procedural materials and bake them out as a base to start painting on. Having a more fully featured material that focuses on the things I normally duct tape…
Progress Report: I am deciding to gamble and go to GDC this year. I am particularly interested in moving to Texas, as such I think I am going to cross reference the expo floor with companies I know are in Texas. I have learned a great deal about UDK and feel -very- confident to say I "know" how to use it. I am in the…
Gotta agree with this man. There is so much impressive stuff about tera from a development standpoint that has me literally baffled. The combat alone is reason enough for anyone whose looking for a much more action oriented fight as opposed to the standard dice roll affair. I like to be able to block and take NO DAMAGE. I…
Hello :) I have a few things to show this time around - bits and pieces of various parts of the project in their various stages. First up is the bogey (bogeys?). I have got a low poly out. Blender reports this as 35k tris, although I think the true number is about 64k, as blender doesn't report instanced geometry. UE5…
Well; I felt the need to chime in here as well. Unlike most here, I have a full-time job as a Corrections Officer (fancy way to say Prison Guard); as well as a Family to look after. I've been tinkering off and on with Game Art for the better part of 7 years or so; with very little results. I've had large breaks in actual…
Yep you can do morph targets after you skin, just make sure the morpher modifier is under the skin modifier, that's the beauty of max you can apply modifiers out of order and drag on modifier under the others if you need to. It's been a while since i used morph targets. But i think you can do it after the skinning. As long…
@AlexCatMasterSupreme - Thanks for the feedback. I am always willing to improve my texturing. I find creating metal is the hardest part. Sometimes is comes off as realistic (for example: the gas pump nozzle, shield on the front of gas tank, and gas filter on the side of gas tank) or sometime is turns out concretely. I do…
I'll take it question by question here. Yes, most of my friends who get hired onto projects where their skill sets over lap. Take Marco Gorlei, (https://www.artstation.com/artist/mvgorlei) he is usually approached by people needing cinematic shots and as such has mostly worked on films. Someone polar opposite to him style…
Hey folks ! Haven't post anything in a while, this time I want to share with you my entry for a recent competition - the double happy creature challenge. Once I've saw the challenge I couldn't resist to take part in it, it sounded like so much fun and it was.The task was to concept either an Oolark or a Shyala. The brief…
Hello everyone, so just a quick little intro, I studied Game Art at uni and graduated almost 4 years ago, we were taught how to use 3DS Max. After graduating I started to fall into a rut and pretty much a lot of other stuff got in the way and I sadly lost my way with 3D and just didn't have the time and money... So now I…
