I am having troubles creating modular assets. Specifically - walls and floors. I've seen countless topics on the internet and tutorials on youtube, everyone seem to run into this problem. And in those videos people tweak some lightmass world settings and magically get great results. However, no matter what I do, if I do…
Great work, and thanks for the mini-tut. It's pretty much how I do it, except I don't have a render camera like that and a plane the size of the grid. Instead I just use a 2x2 meter plane and then render out the maps in Xnormal. Oh well, thanks for taking the time!
Valilas that would be spot on for a mini-tut. Tweaked the foot and leg as you showed. Im going to make a hard line running up the shin flare thing to define it from the rest of the mesh more. Thickened it all out, and re-did alot of mesh that would othwise be a issue later on. Im leaving the back plate on the leg sticking…
usagi: Thankx man, I'll keep that in mind. The reason i made the "loin cloth" have depth was the fact that its not really "loin cloth." I am making the one from AVP, and the things that covered both areas was an armor plating that traveled from beneath the chest plate. I suppose i still could make it a plane however...I'll…
The path into game development really depends on where you're starting from. Some people start with an idea or thing they want to see in a game and learn skills as they go. Others master art or programing first and either find a counterpart or eventually branch out into the other discipline while working on different…
Hello everyone, [Objective] Basically, I am making a tutorial which empasses everything i know about game art and which presents it to the reader in the most indepth way possible. The total page count is expected to be around 350-400 pages. I will be adding every bit of information i will be able to come up with or get a…
Hey! Mate. You mind putting that file up. I'd like to compare some bake results and i can't really make out on your shape with that speculator. Also. Did you ever go ahead and write a tut? If you didn't that's fine I'd just get the mod to put theses files up as examples of tackling theses types of issues. They are great!
There are loads of different ways of making high poly text most starting with creating a text shape. Scott Homer put up a mini tut on how he does it in his Bioshock homage thread : http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97769&highlight=scotthomer That should give you a good start. Hope it helps
Haha, awesome. Yeah, I guess it's pretty straight forwards stuff but it did take a me a couple of hours to get it working exactly right. It was actually that EXACT video, two days ago, that inspired me to try this out. :D Thanks for the compliment. I'm thinking about doing a follow on mini-tut about animating MICs in…
Edit: Some IRL stuff has gotten in the way, and it seems I won't be getting internet much through these next weeks(unless I can get it on phone). I'm still very interested in receiving advice even though I wont be on much to see it, and if anyone happens to post a reply in that time I promise I will try to respond as soon…
