This is a bug in Max 2017. I believe it's fixed in 2018. An Autodesk developer wrote this script for me to get the layers back. Place the script in the startup scripts folder, and then restart 3ds Max. Then open your organized file. Everytime you open a file it will make sure that all layers/objects are working.
It's a magical model. It's invisible to anyone who was not fit for the gaming industry, or who is unpardonably stupid. I'd say lovely start, FruitBomb! Just pay attention at her cape, the way you are doing it's too simetrical and unrealistic. Exagerate a bit more on that left folders, and you´re on the right track! :P
I'm using vtools which alexk linked to. Works fine in cs4. Click quicksavePSDTGA and it will save a tga with the same name as the psd in the same directory. Only annoyance is that it opens the newly created tga up. I got fed up with changing action directories while working with multiple projects and folders.
first attempt at it...still might need to play more with the textures and whatnot maybe >.< btw...does anyone know how to actually save the alpha channel in a diffuse folder in psd with Vtools...it doesnt really seem to work for me (using cs4 btw) (vtools is supposingly able to only support cs3)
@slosh Thank you, it could have been better, but yes, i'm pretty happy as it is. :) Been following your progress on Annie too, since i absolutely adore your Batman entry for Comicon Challenge. Pretty sure yours are going to end up on my inspiration folder again.
if theres no exporter for 9 in the freeSDK tools folder, then theres no exporter for 9. you could try use the old one from cryengine 2, but theres a pretty slim chance itll work. so i guess youre stuck with using the FBX exporter unless youre able to upgrade max.
Something might be wrong the email system, I'm having trouble verifying my email address, the verification email isn't being sent to me and I tried recovering an old account but I didn't get a password reset for that either. Checked spam folder, clicked to resend it multiple times, etc.
Oh man I'm gonna have to check this out after work. I've been meaning to get around to writing something similar so if this works well I will just start telling people to get this instead of this manual installing(copyin folders) that my users now have to do :D
Did you also install the MEL? (I'm not sure where it should go) https://github.com/Swannotron/RoadkillProfessional/tree/master/MEL_script Edit: Oh it says in the instructions from that pullin-shapes website that it should go into a folder like "C:\Users\your_user_name\Documents\maya\2017-x64\scripts"
I would have to agree with combining the Airbus, The hard surface work on it is exceptional but so is the final result. I think showing the process as a whole on one page would be a benefit. Also wanted to say I love your hero weapon, went in to my reference folder as soon as I saw it!
