This is a very subjective take, based on your own experience only. Now of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but such a bold claim here is bordering on misinformation.
@musashidan Thanks! I eventually got the normals on the head all figured (just a matter of changing the normal map format in Painter) out but the curviness of the borders on the body pieces causes weird pins. I'll try and straighten the borders out @Obscura Odd, I guess I just gotta bake again B)
I tried painting out a seam across a uv border edge and found that it looked good in the snap shot, but once I saved the texture the seam reappeared? Am I missing something or does this feature not work yet, I get weird smeared edges any time the uv border edge ends?
Edge padding requires two things... An Alpha Render Output (there should be one in the scene by default). This is what it keys the border expansion off. And the padding to be upped (defaults to 3 pixels) - that's in System > Preferences > Rendering / Final Rendering > Bake UV Border Size... you can set it to something like…
So, i have a problem. If in short: I bake floaters on low poly mesh (picture 1). I have skewing ( picture 2), so I fix it with Skew Paint in Marmoset (very nice feature). As a result - skewing is gone ( pictures 3,4). So the normal map is good now. Then i bake AO and have very visible floater's borders baked onto my mesh.…
Max has some functionality for "open edges" which are the "border edges" You can assign a hotkey/toolbar button to Open Edge Mode and Open Edge Select - Open Edge Mode, when toggled, makes selecting a single border edge select all connected border edges, and Open Edge Select selects all open edges of the current selection.…
Doesn't BPR still add that black pixel border for an unfathomable reason? if that's an issue because the height is supposed to tile you'll have to address that. You could GrabDoc an alpha (but imo the render is a far superior method if you can ignore the black pixel border because the anti aliasing is great and they use a…
I dig the style of these. The biggest thing I can notice is the readability of the button/icons. The way the broad borders are same brightness as the symbols makes it hard to see what they are at a glance. I'd pull in the border on the buttons so they aren't so wide, and maybe darken up the boarders in general so the…
