Hey guys! First post on polycount! I Wanted to share this piece, I hope you like it! Introduction I love games like Dead Island or Requisition VR. For this portfolio piece I wanted to get inspired by the crafty, impossible yet believable weapon designs of these games. What better than C4 attached to something like a…
I dont see why the admins dont ban greevar yet. He is an obvious troll who benefits Polycount in no way shape or form as a community. If he wants to go have discussions on copyright law where he just says everyone in the world is wrong but him then he should do it somewhere else. If you dont have anything of value to offer…
Hey, guys. Thanks for all the feedback. I agree, if you heard about the job through a recruiter then it does seem shady to go around them. I've been contacted in the past for positions I never knew about, but I couldn't figure out what the benefit was for using a recruiter with an already advertised position (especially a…
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback.I really appreciate you taking the time to point these things out.I got busy midway with work, so I haven’t been able to add more post to my portfolio.I’ve updated my asset based on the above suggestions, and I’m planning to revisit and polish the rest of the portfolio once I get…
Welcome one and all to the 97th edition of the Bi-Monthly Environment Art Challenge for the months of July and August! This challenge is a way for real-time 3D artists to test their skills and create a piece of work based on concepts provided. It's open to those of all skill levels and we do our best to provide meaningful…
You're right, I should add that we're developing it actively and currently use it at our studio for 2+ years now. While we were building it to improve our pipeline internally, we realized it's this is also problem a handful of other Artists and Studios had so we spun it off into an open source project of its own. The…
Hey guys ~ I don't post here very often anymore, but I got permission to show all this so I figured I'd throw it here. This was a job I did recently for the indie game Sunset. This was a fun exercise in time management and pressure from deadlines tighter than I've dealt with in the past, and a way to get back into doing 3d…
I feel not enough emphasis is put on the fact that as a game developer, you are an employee, and as an employee, you are responsible for doing quality work in the most efficient, effective way possible. Gav posted this the other day and got me thinking: @GavinGoulden - "What do you put first? Game Dev? Artist? Or a healthy…
I've dabbled in a few things back in the day, purely recreational and never for art purposes. The reason i'm posting is I used to fantasize about this notion too as a kid, that drugs would make you more "creative". A lot of that stemmed from my parents hailing from the hippy generation and I heard Jimi Hendrix talked up…
I'd say those are the next steps, to work on the lighting and rendering post processes. Otherwise, you've got something that's around a Toy Story 1 era fidelity instead of Incredibles 2. You should look into the previous years' posts of environment art. There's a wealth of information there you can learn from.
