Do you laugh manically as you lay waste to your opponents with the most badass weapon you can find? Is your portfolio really an armory full of swords, firearms, and other weapons of destruction? Do you have a love of the mechanical and an insatiable need to figure out how everything under the hood fits together? Is there a…
Just thought I'd make a quick post with some questions on PBR workflow and how we can In corporate PBR into our mobile gaming pipeline. So, I've spent the last few days catching up on what PBR is and have a pretty decent grasp on the concept. We have been working on a mobile/tablet with unity 4 the last two years and this…
Pardon the mostly copy / paste but I think it pretty much applies to your situation perfectly- If you are applying to AA-AAA studios, your work needs to be at a higher standard. I recommend hopping on to Artstation and start searching for recently hired junior artists. Examine their portfolio's to see what the bar is and…
Personally I prefer to sculpt the stuff in as it gives me more control. The only thing I leave to textures in Substance are tertiary details that feels generic. So for example when it comes to cloth I would get the primary / secondary folds from MD, then adjust them in ZBrush, use alphas to place memory folds where the…
These definitely look nice :D That being said, I agree with Chandler, contrast is gonna be key to get these textures reading well. Keep a few, usually smooth surfaces like plain stone or sand or dirt, low in contrast to use as areas of "eye rest" but with the others, especially ones that should have strong forms like the…
The scratches are too random still. Plastic parts are too glossy. They´re more matte on rs ones. Color is alright. Gloss only appears where there´s a lot of friction, eg cheek weld, hand grip etc. But they look pretty good structure wise. The Locking handle on the stock should be the same material as the stock. It is not…
1st, +1 to everything that Pior pointed out. 2nd, I agree with this and at the same time I think they have largely stalled out on pushing the tech envelop because they've already taken 3-4 massive steps past what the current generation of console hardware can support. I agree this should give them time to go back and solve…
I've decided to sort of re-arrange the composition of this scene as Carlos advised. The corn was fairly monotonous on either side, so I'm bringing the farm closer to the camera and have removed half of the corn and pushed the rest further back. I've added more fencing and made a broken fence model, as well as a crater…
I actually spent a lot of time researching bikes so I do know how they work. However my goal was not to design a bike that you could see in the store down the street. It was a conscious decision to design something different. If I lifted the seat up and did what you're talking about the design would fall apart, it would…
I love your painting style! :D However I think the colors are not really working. Everything is kindof desaturated and flat, and the whole scene is too monochromatic I think. I feel like you could push what you see in the concept in order for your work to pop out some more. For example, the crates, barrels, and chests…
