Most artists that i know use Max or Maya. They are successful environment artists that have good jobs in nice companies and this is something that i've been looking for myself. I've been a programmer and now i'm aiming for technical artist positions. I want to make a change in my carrer. Those artists that i known have…
the textures are pale, gray so is the rendering. The AO bake is also to obvious - there is to much gray scale noise in his face but first perhaps create a prober render and scene setup with 3 point light for example and FG renderer such as MR.
I wanted to work on my texturing and lighting (my weakest skillsets), so after watching some Harry Potter films, I decided to use the Hogwarts castle's great hall as a piece to do so. As an interior with large windows to the outside, I think it's a great set to experiment with different lighting and moods. It's kind of…
Welcome to the world of Forsaken. You are an out-cast Master Samurai with exceptional skill. Born to be the Leader of a destroyed Empire, but Exiled by the Supreme Guardians of the Emperors Shine for Misconduct. You alone have traveled the devastated lands in search of rest and peace, but to no avail you have fallen to…
OK, I've had several hours with this over the last week or so, and I'm loving it. I recommend running through all the Allegorithmic tutorials to get a basis on adding textures, baking models and creating AO/Curvature maps. Once you've got a curvature map, try the Edge Wear filter, and then open the source of that filter…

Eventually I created the completely modular character asset with this project, with whole inner body mesh with a set of outfit. I…
Looks good !, The objects that you have created looks great, one thing that i noticed before everything else is the way the ground itself looks and i think that is something that can make your work look much better plus the stones on the ground can be of similar color pallet as the rest of the environment itself. Another…

This sounds pretty tedious. I already have my hard/soft edges set up I'd just want to get them selected and crease them. Hmm I'll try this. I'm trying to get a similar thing to Max's turbosmooth that retains smoothing groups while it's smoothing. Creasing seems to do it but I need to export the actual subdivided geometry…
I once read something about creating plasma balls in a domestic microwave by placing a lit joss-stick inside. No idea whether it works seeing it apparently does nasty things to your appliance but it'd be an interesting thing to try out if you're going to replace your microwave or some such.
