I guess I've been neglecting the texturing phase a bit, I'll definitely put more effort in polishing from now on. I'll probably remake my portfolio, with a focus on creatures\characters and perhaps give it a sci fi theme to make consistent. Thank you guys so much for the amazing feedback!
Ok, I've made some alterations to improve the final print. Moved the helmet so it's all one piece with the body and removed the rings from the blaster. I also added some sci fi details to the base, as 3DKlassen suggested, and some general sharpening and further attention to the sculpt. Here's the latest render:
Here is another wip shot of a new assignment at school. This is a texturing assignment. I modeled the high poly and projected the normals/AO on a plane Tri count = 2 Software = 3DS Max 2011 Viewing = Xoliul viewport shader 1.6 Now time to texture! Sci-Fi Floor Tile Low Poly:
Realism, using high-poly to low-poly baking. Other than that, that are endless sorts of styles, and it's pointless to learn all of them. Learning a couple that you really like and that are used frequently in the industry makes a lot of sense (e.g. mainstream sci-fi realism is something I like and is also pretty common).
yeah artstation is a great place to have an online portfolio. how long have you been modelling? im looking to hire a few junior artist to work with my indie company, how do you feel about modeling sci-fi assets? get back to me - acgameart@gmail.com Thanks
So if I understand correctly you don't need help with the technique itself but rather how to decide where to place the panel lines? Because then you should really just look at reference. Current day aircraft carriers, subs, planes etc. And other sci fi (concept) art. http://conceptships.blogspot.co.uk/
I might start with more mundane stuff. Draw a water bottle and conceptify it. Do something you're totally uncomfortable with and then take it further. Add sci-fi or fantasy elements, do whatever, but maybe starting with something from life might be nice. A tree, go outside and do a tree in your sketchbook.
Is there any data for freelance 3D game artists in germany working for clients in the US? I'm asking because that's the kind of work I'm interested in. I'd like to specialize in hard-surface stuff like guns and sci-fi assets and I don't see many potential buyers for that in Germany, or am I wrong?
Ok, simple subject here. Just a sci-fi style hallway. I'm posting this early because I'm curious about feedback. I've almost run out of inspiration to find the story, or something that might make this an interesting piece. Originally I wanted to cap the hallway with a door that was ajar, busted open perhaps, with some…
Hey everyone, I had posted this project a little while back, but made a new account & made some updates to the scene. One of the best feedback's I received that time was the youtube link to the video that talks about Sci-Fi mistakes and greebles (spelling?). I've been working on 3 separate projects but came back to this…
