There's a lot of things you need to consider. The easiest way I found to start, was working out how much it costs you per day to live. So, how much rent are you paying each day. How much does your breakfast cost, your lunch and your dinner. Then move onto how much electricity you spend (and how much it will cost you for…
Bit of an update. After looking into quality hardware raid cards I came to the conclusion that I could just buy a pre-built NAS solution for a little more. At this point I was sick of all the research and everything so an already built solution seemed great. I picked up: Synology DS413j:…
I dont think that's really our concern. We're more worried about reliability. V-Ray for example when we report bugs that seriously affect our show, Chaos Group would fix it WITHIN A DAY and have nightly build ready for us. Thats what we need more so than saving the license cost.
Theres also a tool with mental ray to warp textures for you if you've moved the UVs--it doesn't always give the best result. I'm trying to find a link, but i think its a bit of a hack. Basically what Vailias said, though you may not have to combine the pieces into one mesh if your boss/client doesn't care about that.
I think that's just for the cage option. No you don't. * Add High res. * Add low res. * If needed, use the tool to calculate max front and rear ray trace. Then go back to step two and adjust those numbers on the low res. * Select the output you want (AO, normal, RAd Norm, Depth) and size. * Hit the button.
Hello, i made a mesh and i wanted to make some cool renders inside of Substance Painter. I created a cool look with all the post effects and camera options that substance painter gives me. But when I go into Iray mode i want to look my mesh like in the workspace (where i set it up.) But the look is worlds between these…

Hi all, I pimped this game in the Steam Sale thread but it's the last day today and I thought I'd try and get one last push of sales. It's only £2 and well worth it. Hello, so I decided to start on my first environment using Cryengine, and It gave me the perfect excuse to try recreating one of my favorite environments in Bioshock Infinite, Battleship Bay. Below is as far as I got in the blockout from yesterday. Right now I'm working on scale, because it doesn't feel quite right for…
