So this is the first time something like this has happened to me (I'm pretty sure... maybe alzhiemer's is settin in). Got a message in my inbox from THQ saying I'd been a winner of a free game since I plopped my card in the bowl at the GDC. (woooot!) :D Anyhow, of the 3 PC choices, I picked Saints Row 2...hope it's not as…
Ah sorry from my last post then. Its hard to judge the context and how people mean comments without voices on the inter-webs, I just kinda thought that was meant to be a kick to the gut. Glad to see we're on the same page. /end derailing thread
Curious about the inter-operability between LT and full versions of Maya. It would be nice for a smaller indie studio where a tech artist can use the full suite to create custom tools for artists who just need the LT feature set.
I hereby anounce DaZ as the forum's official diplomat and emmbasador for inter-net affairs and councilor for well-manners, mutial consideration, and good english. I have no idea how to quad or sub-D a model, but I'm sure daz is right anyways.
Poops idea is a winner. BP3D is a great tool. If you're going the rotating chair route, I'd recommend trying to eliminate shadows as much as possible. Try lighting with large diffuse light boxes at as many angles as possible, instead of single spots or just a window. Might help to do a dry run on a coworker first, get the…

All feedback welcome! For anyone who didn't see the contest page, it is a mini golf hole that will be featured at Havok's GDC booth…
The welded cog is a winner! Real street fighting. I don't like the water valve much, since it doesn't seem to fit much in the design, it runs out too much feeling unbalanced. What about something more massive and compact like a pipe fitting? The T junction on the upper right, aged and rusted, would fit well keeping the…
I've seen some models that have a mix of flesh and mechanical parts, interated. meaning one is coming out of the other, and the flesh is wrapped around or into the machine. How do you guys achieve this effect? can you load 2 models into zbrush, so as to let me scult the flesh around the flesh? what tricks are there for…
My apologies as I realize that I am several months late making this announcement. Henceforth, there is no need to use the term "next-gen" when referring to current games and consoles. In fact, you can just leave out the term "gen" all together. e.g- what is the polycount for game characters? or What is the texture size for…
