Hi everyone, below is the WIP of my first matte painting and i'd absolutely love if you could all rip it apart! I've reached a point where i feel i could really use some feedback and possibly some direction on how i should take it forward. Thanks a lot!
I've googled this issue with not much success. I'm painting with x mirrored and Mudbox decides that it can't fully paint the seam in a couple spots for some reason. I thought maybe a hole in the mesh but I've checked if the middle vertices are merged in the model and they are. In fact Mudbox would tell me if there was…
The other thread about new texture tools vs tradiontal art got me thinking, does anyone know of an example of a truly Hand-painted texture set in a game? Like the UV layout was printed and then watercolored or inked over then scanned back in. I wonder what kind of result that would get.
having that issue of not being able to paint on the model again. so i open up a normal map in photoshop, i then open up ndo and convert that map to a ndo map, i then select the multinormal and then select the ndo painter and when i paint on the model i can see the brush but the color does not show up...so ill close down…
Thanks! I've put that painting aside for now (sorry for the late reply), but I wasn't really sure where to take it next. In retrospect I can see that the values aren't separated clearly enough, and there's a lot of noise that isn't really adding to the image. I also couldn't really figure out how to use the focal point I…
No, painting is limited to UV0 at this point. You can have specific channels using a different UV channel but you will need a custom shader and will only be able to use fill layers, generators, etc. no painting.
Hello everyone, I need to create a material for a static mesh that will paint geometry through a vertex paint, the material should consist three layers and in each layer there should be a diffuse map, normal map and rаfnes. Could you please tell me how to do this. I saw a video on YouTube of how it was made, but I can't…

I was surprised not to find a separate section dedicated to game development, so I'm asking here. While I learned a lot about making game assets recently, there are two topics that absolute mystery to me. The first one is how to make a ground for a game. Imagine having a road, a sidewalk, a gravel/dirt whatever. E.g. here…
