used max for about 6 or 7 years. been using maya for about 3 now. here's what ive got to say about the things you've brought up. Max things in Maya: Parametric modeling: no clue what you mean by this. lol. not sure what it is. Symmetry. Doable for basic things. no slice/weld but essentially instanced/mirrored objects act…
Gosh, I wish I could just open up your level and click all the check boxes to activate features... You lighting only image tells us a lot of important things: 1) Your materials (textures) are too dark. As you can see, even in the brightest of lighting areas, your screen shots are almost totally black. This is NOT a…
I would use weighted normals if low poly has beveled edges, though not familiar with blender. Maybe it does that by default. In any case, dig those links sacboi provided. Dealing with normal baking without it would be a harder ride than you expect.
also trying pressing 6 / 7 on keyboard to toggle between lighting/no lighting. Kinda looks like you have lighting turned on but by default maya wont have any lights in the scene, so it would look dark like that
You dont really need to do the split on the top side. Just outline the circumference of the top side and of the bottom side with seams, and unwrap that. I havent looked too much into the new Peel tools so I dont know if this was done by AutoPeel, but it looks like that's what happened here. Some manual placement may be…
Blender doesn't force anything on the user any more than Maya or Max do, which is to say that it does. =] I don't really have a problem with the UI. Workflow wise I think it offers quite a few improvements even over commercial software I've used. Graphically it looks better than max, maya or xsi. It's closer to modo or c4d…
Few things I'd like to add. Epic themselves generally suggest using AO textures for small cavities and letting SSAO/SSGI/Lumen/DFAO do their jobs. AO being baked into textures isn't necessarily a bad thing, it can simulate dirt and grime even if you're getting AO elsewhere. Often times with textures you got albedo and…
That's a default Vanilla thing. I'll see what I can do. In general I'm trying to keep the CSS overrides as simple as possible, since Vanilla has a habit of renamingthe underlying IDs which breaks our custom styling. Same with the spacing between threads in the category page. 🤞
