The issue you are having comes from ray missing error your baker does . When low res surface probably folds into itself or having narrow gaps and no way to separate parts telling what specific point ray should see/ stop at and what shouldn't.Possible solutions:1. More low res shell encompassing the thing around having…
Hey fellow artists, This is my first Polycount post, after several months of being a member and looking through the site. I always find helpful information so I'm hoping someone can shed some light onto an issue I'm running into. I have a question regarding normal baking in Substance Painter, which I'm fairly new to using.…
Hey everyone! I'm ABR, a self-taught 3D artist about 4 months into learning Blender with roughly 1 month of actual sculpting experience. This is my first major project and I'd love any feedback or critique from people more experienced than me. A bit about me: I'm actually more of a topology person than a sculptor — which…
Hi guys, I have a request, I've been reading about baking and how it all works and what are do's and don'ts and for practice, I've decided to make a quick little asset I wanted to bake onto a low poly object. I plan on making a ton more assets as a practice in the next few months as soon as possible. The only time I…
There are a couple of threads on normal mapping on the technical talk forum that helped me a great deal in understanding what is going on. This is a huge topic, and a lot to take in. It will take time to figure out how things work, why you should do things in certain ways, and how they relate to Blender.…
Rate my bake, I'm learning to bake properly and want to make sure I don't suck at it :D Please ignore the horrid UV packing. I challenged myself to see how much detail I could get from a low poly model, warhammer is about 1.3k tris.
Hello everyone! I have been working with this tool for a few months, mostly on our internal projects, and I think it's time to get it out there. It's still in development so feel free to suggest any additions or alterations. It can easily be altered to accommodate 3rd party packages such as other UV-Packing/Unwrapping…
Hi, I am new to 3d and was wondering if anyone had any good resources for explaining what baking is and why you want to use do it? I understand that some models are low poly and other high poly. Is it that you are just taking the modelling from the high poly and taking a snapshot? You then 'bake' this snapshot onto the…
Hey @Oleaf , Can you make sure you are using Toolbag 307 and also that if you have your "high poly" meshes hidden that "Use Hidden Meshes" is checked in the Geometry Tab of the Baker. You can do a test bake of this by using our Bake Widget example file. Share a screenshot that shows the entire UI, Baker, Scene Items and…
Quixel doesn't bake textures. We just make tools that allow you to paint them. ;-) 3DO has a baker built into it, but it's not for baking high-to-low like you're thinking. For that purpose, you would need a dedicated baking tool such as xNormal or HandPlane Baker. Both are free (HPB being significantly better than xN from…
