Parallax is the worst from all of them. If you could minimize it to the needed areas it would be ok but otherwise, probably having a 100k tris static mesh can be cheaper. Anyways, if this is just for rendering and you don't need resources for other stuff, you could go fairly high on polies without too much performance…
I wouldn't. Unless I was using Rage technology. http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/MultiTexture#Megatexture For all other games, I'd use tiling textures and texture blending, period.
Hey bud, I broke into the industry without having gone to school, and by just following tutorials. Its definitely doable. Its all about the portfolio and portfolio direction. Right now, your portfolio says "product rendering", which you could lean into. I'm not 100% sure but I'd assume someone who is good at producing…
Hello! Its been a long time since I dont post here :# Almost 6 years... But finally I back! I've been working on this character project for approximately a month now or a few years if you count when it really began :p ! She started as a redesign of an old project of mine and now I'm turning her into a 3D game ready…
When you say a ton of mistakes what do you mean? Because most modeling that happens for games tend to be quick, dirty and cheap. Unless you're making some really nice high-poly modeling etc , we usually take a lot of shortcuts if we can to make things go faster since it won't really be all that obvious to the players.
Beam me up! Spent a bit of time today scultping the vertical wood beam. This is one beam model seen from all four sides. I think I'm going to make another one that isn't so rough too and choose which one matches the degree of aging and damage that I want. After that I'll tackle the plaster parts.
Like said, it depends, especially for the chamfers. Do you need cuts for normal maps because of hard edges? What's more visible? How much distortion and size scale changes are you willing to deal with? Personally, I'd probably do something like this: "a" can be straightened out without any distortion, the inner and outer…
you might find that your publish settings need adjusting - i haven't generated an sbsar by hand in years (all automated now) but i vaguely remember there being specific things you needed to fill in to get it to export at a fixed size. it'll be in the docs somewhere
Hi there! I've started using Twitch streaming as a way to do more personal work at home. So far it's working out really well but I needed a place where I could periodically update my progress and get some feedback on the things I'm creating. With this in mind I've created my own griffitii wall! Feel free to comment/crit on…
