This is a quick update I finally got around to doing paint over for this concept, I should probably note now that updates will trickle in slowly, (insert sob story of not having a life outside of work here). At any rate I plan on doing some modeling soon, possibly so quick repaint first. Feedback is more than welcome.
Japhir : Thanks, toes fixed. Xaltar: Low-poly with normal map + diffuse. This is the first time I've tried painting my maps in zbrush. Some of it came out okay but his back looks like shit. Luckily it's pretty easy to repaint in zbrush and then rebake in xnormal again. C&C on the texture so far would be much appreciated.
Back when r13 and Vito were first talking about repainting Polycount I knew that it didn't matter _what_ you put up there, some people would bitch about it. Just the nature of Polycount and what makes it great compared to other art forums - people always bitching, critiquing, and the perpetual state of dissatisfaction that…
Your alpha dots are too large and close together, so the shell trick is breaking down on the extreme angles (the edges). Try running a maximize filter on your alpha map (it shrinks all white portions by single pixel increments) or just repaint them with smaller dots. Looks cute.
Few issues, Dont paint your mask on your new extract, you'll get double extraction on the next one, Proof of concept at least, just need to repaint the masks and try again, If you get jaggendess on the edges of extractions use Dynamesh to smooth it all out :) Any C&C ?
Most values are in. This is my process for most client work. All characters, sky, ground and foreground are on their own layers so I can change something without having to repaint everything. Makes sense for the clients who want to change things up after the initial concept phase. Next are the colors!
I totally agree, but it's going in a game and I'm not sure what the lighting will be like yet so it has to stay mostly blank for now. There's also some crazy kind of shader that's going to do some funky things to it too. But yea one more pass, probably have to repaint the reflection too.
Heya! Found a very old model I did more than a year ago with unfinished texture. Did not like the old texture so I repainted everything. The model is about 4200 tris and a 512 x 512 diffuse texture is used. Got some inspiration from the awesome art in allods online and the stuff slipgatecentral made. Hope ye like! Edit:…
I wanted to repaint it for my portfolio. The first job was rushed because it was for a contest. (THATIWONFIRSTINOMGOMGOMG) I actually wasn't going to redo him completely but it ended up that way. lol I have no idea about having the feathers on a different map. BUT IT IS GOOD TO KNOW That it might be better for it to be on…
i would add more detail to your normals. they are a little TOO flat, i wouldnt suggest too much at this point, but think about where it may have been repainted in the past or where maybe it has taken some bumps or dings, eben as simple as where paint was layered on a little too thick... makes it look less like a toy :
