The tutorial I learned the most from, hands down, was Grant Warwick's Hard Surface Essentials. In the vein of Racer's complaints about people taking the wrong stuff away from tutorials, this one was more of a 'teach a man to fish' deal. There really wasn't anything specific made; you just learned how the tools actually…
Crazy_pixel: Thank you. Saying the word Pixar in the same sentence as describing my character is a huge compliment. The Disney/Pixar style is exactly what I was going for. I like the stripes idea. Not sure how I would implement it but it could create a easier connection point for his environment. In the concepts by Melissa…
Hey Polycount. So it's been some time since I was last here. Quite a few years actually. I'm here to discuss a topic, hoping it will lead to helping me find my fire again somehow. I'll lead with what's happening. I'm a 3D artist, I've been playing around in that field for several years now. I started when I was 12 years…
I was planning to avoid posting this until I was finished (or close enough to start looking for polish crit), but then I ran into what seems like a major aesthetic inconsistency in my reference, so I figured I'd fish around for opinions on how to resolve it. But first, a quick "Previously, on me modeling a ship from…
So i started working on this for the throne room contest, but i didnt start until Mid March and i don't get much practice so I'm a bit slow. Point being i missed the deadline but decided to keep working on it. The premise of the throne room is that once Kain was purified by the spirit reaver, he should be able to restore…
I've been working on this for a year, actually it's roughly 4 months, but I had very little time to spend on this project last year so that's why this took this time. Whatever, let me talk about the project. The part one is finished, this was a nvidia waveworks study I did to learn and understand the usage of that plugin…
Short update just since it has been awhile: I moved most of the major classes in the game to c++ so that it is easier to refactor into the future. I still prefer blueprints for speed but if you want to do something like move a bunch of delegates to a separate class it is a big problem to do that in blueprint. It took a…
I guess I'm seeing something that others aren't. Lord knows I could be wrong (and it certainly wouldn't be the first or last time). I had a chat with one of the creative directors I work with regarding interactive worlds, and how Video Games seem to be moving into a direction less about a linear controlled story, and into…
great work so far! :) I just thought I'd share with you some stuff I learned... Design - I think you can push your design more if you'll mix more recognizable concepts. Since you're going for a humanoid character, maybe you can mix in some animal influence or mythical creatures, anything that the audience can easily relate…
There is a difference between gaining "fat" weight and gaining "muscle" weight, ideally you'll want to gain on the second. The more lean muscle mass your body have, the more it will auto consume calories to maintain its volume. So working sounds like a good idea. I ll personally encourage you to find a sport you like.…
