Here are some screens on an Escape Pod I worked on today for portfolio use.. so far only the HP has been done. Wanted to post here before I start the LP.. kinda feel like the model could use some smaller details.. lemme know what u guys think. Reference ( more of a general guideline, Not trying to replicate it )
So in Maya 2017/18 they finally added the Grow/Shrink along Loop function, thank God. I haven't been able to find some script or native function that does the same thing for Rings though. Do you guys know anything I could use for this? I currently have a script that replicates Max' Dot Ring function, but it's not the same…
Hey there, welcome to Polycount! You already have a thread on this subject, with some good replies. It's usually best to reply in your existing thread if you want clarifications or more info.
People will always compare it to the original and look down on it if its not as good as theirs. If you take the idea of Metal Gear Rex and make a version of it that is current gen and it looks incredible you could get away with it. Replicating exactly what has already been done is bad imo. Make it your own.
Woops. Well I made a new file and tested sRGB and it seems to be working fine. I'll do a few tests later to see if I can find out why. The issue can still be replicated and doesn't seem to be fixable in the file I first tried it on, I'm just unsure why.
@dschmidt3d Thanks for the tips! I think I could up the global illumination on some of the lights to help with that. @ArNavart That's definitely not good. What browser are you using? I haven't been able to replicate the issue with chrome, firefox or edge. So I really have no idea what would cause that.
Much better! One thing I find that helps when trying to match a style, is to try to replicate exactly the reference material. So try to paint an exact copy of the Blizzard texture. Some art schools advocate this for learning more about a master painter's technique. I've done it, and it helped me.
Nah man you nailed it, cymbals are too high (more so on the left side (if you are facing the speakers) I will fix that in the mix, although I'm not great at mixing drums in general, I tend to listen to other bands and try and replicate their mixes... still don't fully "understand" it though :P
Couldn't replicate it, tried both 2011 & 2012 fbx with same UDK build. Can only guess you have something funky going on with a mesh/material. Maybe try working backwards, use 2 mat id's see if it works add another, so on and so forth until it breaks.
Reminds me: I was a the Legion of Honor the other day looking through the Rodin room.. and I said to my ex, "Ya know, if I came here and replicated any one of these sculptures *perfectly* in zbrush, then posted it for critique, I'd hear "Hey thats a good start"" Take care zwebb.
