I think about small tombs around the main tomb entrance (like a concept) and I try to make them using decals with POM. In my opinion, a good result comes out. And that saves me from sculpting extra cliffs modules with tombs.
Thanks guys. A lot can be added to this type of stuff to really break it up like lights on the walls, vegitation, posters and other types of decal cards. Even taking the same wall and just doing a texture change with a different material will go a long ways.
Not looking too shabby. One thing that pops out at me, is that your grime is coming across a little too dark. Its reaching black pretty easily. And other said, start breaking up the repetitive brick with some decals. graffiti works great for this.
I could feel the environment and they all look good, but some how they also do feel bare in terms of prop population or kinda dirt and and decals which seems to miss, the rocks feels too smooth and nice to me.IS that the way u intended it? Vj
It is looking pretty nice, I would have liked to see more color though. It still is missing that little bit of flavor in the textures. Maybe some spray paint decals that construction worker would use. Overall though it is a really nice piece of work.
Figured out the issue with the textures. It wasn't the texture size, it was that mudbox appears to downrez stencils a fair bit, so you need to make them overly huge to get nice edges. :P Fixed the textures, added decals, and gave it some 'flashing' lights.
This is awesome. :) I've been meaning to model a squirtle for a long time. I always get caught up on the eyes of anime style creatures though. How'd you do yours? Are they a seperate decal or are have you painted them straight onto the texture sheet?
The splatters can be placed on later with decals. You should also make sure you have your hard/soft polys, or smoothing groups setup properly to give hard edges the right look. This is especially important if you're not going to be using a normal map.
The new tweaks are gorgeous! Don't know if you wanna take it in that direction, but I would suggest some vert-painted or decal stains on the large brick surfaces to break them up a little. You know, some water stains, bird poop etc
Thanks so much guys, I'll be implementing these changes soon. Katori, I did a quick test of the decal blending effect and it looks fantastic. Can't believe I didn't know about this. It makes the scene look so much better. Thank you!
