Ghost Lake https://www.artstation.com/artwork/bg530G Ghost Lake is a project I have been working on in my personal time. My former lead at Mountaintop, Andy Kreutzer, told me to improve my Unreal Material Skills. I thought a fun challenge would be to create an Ice Material. Once I finished the Ice Material I tried to make…
Breakdown Interior Assets In this post I will give a short breakdown on how the creation of an interior Asset was done for this project. First, environment assets are split into different areas, areas that use material layering for texturing and areas that don’t. For the door below, the blue areas are shaded by using…
OBSG Game Update MODELING & TRIMSHEETS I've continued with modeling environment assets while also working on a trim sheet which we can use for most of the environment. I did the Gold/Hieroglyphs/Wood trim sheet while the other Environment artist worked on the Brick and Stone trimsheet and my assets. This is what mine looks…
I am getting weird seams in my normal map. This is just a basic trim baked down into a tilable trim texture which I then projected on my window model. I've done this before in Softimage. I'm not sure why it is giving me a problem now. The screenshot will show the result and set up. I used Ultimapper. I'm getting this seam…
Street festival 3D environment I recreated based off of the concept by Papymeka at https://www.deviantart.com/papymeka/art/Dofus-background-Street-of-Astrub-518032149 . Created using Maya for blockout, Unreal to render, and Z brush and substance painter were used to create trim sheets to texture the buildings. It was fun…
I haven't made this work as well, but i think that if you are going to lay multiple uv's on top of each other on a trim sheet, you cannot have dirt on them on the texture. That would propably be done with vertex painting combining 2 materials. Or is there a way i don't know that you can both have a trim sheet and add dirt…
This is cool! If you're selling it in the Unity store, it would be cool to assemble it in Unity. It feels a bit monochromatic to me. Might help to toss in some complimentary-colored items, like give the rug a royal blue trim, or maybe change the stairway trim to a deeper blue (less cyan). One of the web textures looks…
Looks pretty good. The painted metal is your best material. The trim is the weakest. Is the trim painted metal or brushed metal? If its brushed metal you want to tone down the brush marks and move them mostly to the specular map. PS: Your images are too big, 1920x1080 is about as big as you want to go unless you have…
Polyhertz, not at my computer at the moment but I think that's correct, a 950 bloomfield. My benchmark might go higher after I flash the SSD with new firmware to support the trim command on win 7. I'll post an update after I get that done. Currently the SSD is the performance bottleneck because of the absence of trim…
