Check how it looks when materials are applied, and it’s put in a scene with lighting and camera angle. Many of these tiny issues become essentially invisible, in situ. But yes, triangles and ngons are ok, as long as they don’t adversely affect the shading. Usually fine on flatter areas.
Hey everyone. So I'm using Maya 2017 on Windows 10 64 bit, and for a while now I have been having trouble saving my preferences. Even my shelf items won't save. If I click on the auto key icon, change my Preferences/ Settings/ Animation/ Default on tangent: stepped (for example) then hit save... I get this error in the…
Sure. But some focal points are very hard to rescue, if they are not interesting to begin with. If you pick an uninteresting subject people are not going to be interested when they look at your images. The same way it's hard to tell a compelling story about a boring event. Here are 2 examples of a pool shot from Wes…
Hello world... a little introduction would be appropriate I think. Currently I'm a student Digital Arts & Entertainment here in Belgium, specializing in Game Development. I always try to learn by looking at great (3D)artists and by reevaluating C&C I've got from others. I can't always keep my sketchbook up-to-date due to…
Hey! It's been a long time since I used this part of the forum. I started to like this effect so I guess it's time for some C&C :) The particle system has 3 emitters inside: Ribbons for flames, regular particles for smoke and ember. I'm working on optimizing the smoke particle count right now. The materials are basically…
Hey guys, this is my character WIP for the Threedy "slayer" modeling challenge. I thought I would post it here so I can get some C & C as I go along. The theme is pretty wide open with standard DWIV rules for entries. We are given the theme of Slayer, I choose to do a barbarian-type assassin character, something like if…

Well the concept looks interesting but I'd suggest working on the model a little bit more before I give too much C&C. So far the only real thing I notice is that her arm seems a bit low. Also I'm not entirely sure because of the angle, but I'm thinking her torso is a bit too long to begin with, especially because she…
You don't have to drag a rect. You can just ctrl+shift click on subtools to toggle add/remove them from the selection. It works exactly the same as polygroup selection/hiding works: The first subtool you C+S click will be isolated and the others will have the hatching to show they are not part of the selection. Then just…
