Dude is just on another level.
He also has Youtube videos showing the fleabot extending out its wings, the rollerblades coming out of the feet, and the helmet opening and closing.
I checked out the rest of the shots. Unbelievable amount of effort and work put into that character. There should be no reason for him to lose with that much stuff added to the character and with all those energy drinks at his station.
Boofis also is a great choice!
Who I think should (from what I've seen so far) is katzeimsack, though there are a lot of great entries out there.

Either something generic and robotic or something generic and demonic. But we'll see eh!
Slipgate really made a striking point by making an awesome model without depending on a sculpting program.
Anyone else notice that some early favorites completely fucked up on the texturing?

on topic: There are about 12 entries I saw that are 1st-3rd place quality... no idea who's the best...
I vote Slip's for first, and the owl for second. Kickass entries this year.

I can just see this scene in a cutscene/movie; it just has that 'feel'.
The modelling is excellent and the design is pretty decent, but I reckon he could have pushed the textures a lot more. I think there are more interesting, fresh and eye-catching designs out there (Boofis, for one!).

I have to agree, the modeling/normals are great but the textures look too plain, and there is no contrast to it.
Not looked at enough entries to get opinionated yet. Excited to see the judging.
