finished the sculpting and did a renderscene I will use for all my future high poly renders

Didn't do a character for quite some time and never did something post apocalyptic.
So, I thought, it would be nice to kill two birds with one stone.

The character is loosly based on this concept http://www.badpolygon.com/wp-content/chef.jpg by spacemonkey.

I started the concept yesterday and I think this version is a good start

Looks awesome dude, you have some great painting skills.

One crit though, I was thinking the head would pop out of the suit more. The brown peice (above the brown hood) looks a little off to me and could be what's through it off. But then again, it could just be me trying to find something to crit.

Holy crap, that looks awesome!

Reminds me of some of the Quake 3 concepts. What program did you use, Painter or Photoshop and what resolution do you work with?

What I really like about it is that you get the idea in first glance but when you look closer, its some real simple lines and shapes. Are you going to make side/front views for modelling sake or just from that view?

good going man! Nice start.
Not sure if your looking for crits on the actual concept but it looks somewhat flat, the shading is allright but the forms seem to lack some punch. Might want to use some constructive "bigger shapes" to make it easier to get it right.

I think if you can finish translating that to 3d and stay faithful to your concept you'll be golden. Looks great.

To be nit-picky:
I think you could have some more facial asymmetry or some other novel mutation going on. As it is, he looks like a fat man-rabbit/rat. A cool one, but could use some conceptual massaging.

@BradMyers : I don't have any drawing skills

without an zbrush sculpt as a base i wouldn't be able to draw anything.

@McGreed: I used Maya for basic modeling, zbrush for rough sculpting and photoshop.

@seforin: I will try to add a little bit more tear to make it fit to the character

@StJoris: Thanks for the advice, I'm not that good at painting, that's why the picture is kind of flat..

If I had to find something (and it's just a matter of taste) I'd recheck the mouth area and make it a little bit bigger (vertivcal), it's a bit less realistic but this is something that directly catch my eyes in the spacemonkey's drawing

, nice work on the armour/accessories clean and smooth. have to agree with renaud about the mouth, in the concept the space between the nose and top lip is very minimal and has a more rounded shape and bit longer teeth, and you will be spoot on. unless of course you are going for a bit of your own taste thrown in

Looks great, but having the metal parts stiched together feels wrong. Works fine on the leather parts and the little metal plates inside the collar... but who stitches the metal hulls of armor together? Even after a nuclear war :P

More tape or a hasty/shoddy weld job would fit the bill better, methinks.

Looking good! I like what your doing a lot, only things I would change to are making the hood material thicker and narrowing the fatty mass thats sweeping across the cheek. In the shot from the front it reads to broad beneath the cheek bone as fat would hang further down and the mass is retained higher near the zygomatic arch.
Hope you are going to add those puches and packs to him!!

The only thing I usually find cheesy with post apocalyptic would be space marines.

That aside, I think some decent worn edges and slime around where the face meets the armor would look slick.

maybe tack on some metal parts/crusty skin details as well.

the only thing i'd suggest is waiting til youve laid out the whole suit before adding stuff like pouches, the canteen looks awkward to me in the concept painting.
