Maya or 3DS max, Which is objectively better at modeling with the latest updates?

I understand these are mearly tools, but I'm curious with the latest updates, is one objectively better than the other in terms of modeling?

That is 100% objectivity, zero opinion.
but to answer: at this point, they're functionally the same. Don't worry about it, just model. Try both if you like, and choose which one feels right. But they'll both do the job, and do it well.
@OP Depends who's in control. Anything can be modeled quickly and efficiently in either. Toolsets are more or less the same. Process more or less the same. It comes down to personal opinion really. What will you prefer? The only answer to that is to get into both and model 10 objects the same in each program. This will give you a good idea of which workflow/UI you prefer. But remember, when you become a proficient modeler you will have your UI/hotkeys/pie and quad menus heavily customised for speed.
3ds Max - Max for Maximum.
"Maximum" names the zenith of achievement.
Why choose less than Maximum? Why limit oneself to being... "Sub-Max?"
at least we seem to be in luck that they did away with maya unlimited. and shame that we can't point fingers anymore and laugh at the insufficiency of softimage foundation.

Big studios use a full Videoscape 3d / Modeler pipeline anyways though ...
