i use caligari truespace its the only advanced modelling program that allows me to model in an advanced way
but to answer: at this point, they're functionally the same. Don't worry about it, just model. Try both if you like, and choose which one feels right. But they'll both do the job, and do it well.
F$$k that!! You people are in the dark ages. I'm still stitching nurbs patches together in a science lab......
@OP Depends who's in control. Anything can be modeled quickly and efficiently in either. Toolsets are more or less the same. Process more or less the same. It comes down to personal opinion really. What will you prefer? The only answer to that is to get into both and model 10 objects the same in each program. This will give you a good idea of which workflow/UI you prefer. But remember, when you become a proficient modeler you will have your UI/hotkeys/pie and quad menus heavily customised for speed.
are we sure it doesn't just stand for maximum crash frequency?
at least we seem to be in luck that they did away with maya unlimited. and shame that we can't point fingers anymore and laugh at the insufficiency of softimage foundation.
Turbo Silver is the real stuff for the advanced 3d artist - Imagine was just some compromise to appeal to the masses Big studios use a full Videoscape 3d / Modeler pipeline anyways though ...

That is 100% objectivity, zero opinion.

3ds Max - Max for Maximum.
"Maximum" names the zenith of achievement.
Why choose less than Maximum? Why limit oneself to being... "Sub-Max?"
