How can i model this?

I want to take the group on the left of the image, and duplicate it have it placed on the center of every face on the object on the right how can i do this?

Im working in Maya 2017 and/or Modo 10 whichever one can do this easier

It's trivially easy to do with duplication by faces in Blender. I don't know how to do it in Maya or Modo.

This is def what I'm looking for. However, I can't get it to work correctly.

I have been able to:
create a mash network
change its distribution mode to mesh
Set my base mesh and input mesh
change method to Face Centre and the Flood Mesh

The only thing is that my replicated mesh is duplicated on a on a sphere that is a lot bigger than the one that I selected. In the image below you can see the sphere in the center, and the duplicated mesh network in green. Im trying to get it to look like the object you posted.

Is there something I am missing?

hmm should work pretty much out of the box. do you have massive transforms on the object(s)? where is the pivot of your mesh you want to scatter in relation to the mesh itself?

I imagine that is has to do with the scale, of the objects. I have to work at a specific scale for this project. I got it to work by taking what i had shown you and scaling the duplicated object up about 70%

I had made sure to delete history, freeze transformations and center pivots before creating the Mash Network
