Check out the first 4 illustrations from the DOTA 2 announcement.

Earlier today GameInformer announced Valve's latest project, DOTA 2, which saw them team up with one of DOTA's original creators, Ice Frog. I'll update this post with more information about the game, but for now here are the 4 illustrations found within the announcement.

HoN and LoL followed

But the gameplay was never good enough to even match what Dota has developed into

With this new concept , I hope IceFrog make name for himself again

You guys realise LoL / HoN were based off DotA right

, so it isn't the fact that dota needs to stand out, it's literally just DotA with a graphics update and a lot of people think it's still a superior game just lacking graphics, gotta agree about Drow.. was really hoping she was more icy instead she looks kinda overdone with just a frost arrow.

Icefrog more or less demanded a direct port from DoTa to an extent that wouldn't get Valve sued. And they did it. Looks like they smelled the money and let him run DOTA 2 as he pleases.

Is there anything in particular that makes this sound "probably true" to you? It just seems kind of petty and not very well thought-out to me. More like it was written by someone with a personal problem with Icefrog than someone who actually works at Valve.
