Hi Polycounters!!!

This project will be my first serious attempt at the complete production of a game character. I have a background in 2D concept art and as of late have been extending my skills in the 3D arena.

I've chosen the champion Gangplank, and a skin concept of my own being a wild-western sort of gunslinger/sheriff. I noticed his rival Miss Fortune has a Wild Western skin so why not Gangplank?

GANGPLANK: THE BILGEWATER BAILIFF

Gangplank would set sail, travelling to compete in The League of Legends. For many months at a time Gangplank would be away at sea, spreading his fame and increasing his fortune.

Upon his return to Bilgewater he would find it to be a den of thieves, full of corruption and no hierarchy. Gangplank's authority and reknown was not recognised in his own town. It was time to set things straight and show the citizens of Bilgewater who's Boss. Enter THE BILGEWATER BAILIFF!

I'm using Blender for the modeling and Photoshop for concepting.

Update: Going back to 2D concept stage with b+w silhouettes to refine some ideas, in order to make the design more visually interesting.

Sculpting. Was going to use my initial base mesh I had already created but wanted to experiment with a process of creating the base mesh entirely in ZBrush using ZSpheres and ZRemesher.

Glad to see more cowboys joining the fun

You're on for a bit of a rush but it looks like you're doing good progress so far.
My crit would be to review the proportions a bit, with longer legs and chest. Gangplank has a regular human build and I'm afraid that in-game, these "compressed" proportions might be emphasized by the camera angle.

Goldo_O: Thanks alot for the feedback. I've heeded your advice and adjsuted the legth of legs and torso. Yeah would look even more distorted from game view. Getting words of encouragement from a pro like you means alot to me and help fuel my latest progress!

Update: Clothing and accessories. Still much more to be added and detailed.

Taking me a while since I'm learning alot as I go, and testing different techniques for future projects. Dreading the point where I'll need to retopo.

More Progress on the sculpting. Was getting OCD with getting the belts and straps correct. Alot of tweaking to get the strap going through the lopp correctly and getting it to wrap around the shape right. Also got his weapons and a fair few other details added.

So all those sweet high poly details and objects I tinkered with will have to be cut. Due to poly economy. During the retopology / conversion process I had to really go backwards to get a nice clean poly-efficient mesh. All in the learning process I guess, this being my first 3D game character project ever.
