Mirroring external hard drives?

I have 2 external hard drives. I'd like to be able to save to the 1st, and have the file automatically save to the 2nd. When I delete a file off of one, I'd like it to delete off the other HD too.

What's the best way to do this? And is there a risk of both backups being messed up, when compared to manually backing up files from one HD to another?

I'm running Vista if it makes a difference. Thanks.

Raid1 would work, I haven't set it up software RAID so I don't know how it works. You could also you software like syncback to automate copying mirroring etc...

Yup, but I use it more for copying files to my NAS device, and also to sync working files between different computers.

If you just want to copy from one drive to another, Microsoft has a free tool called synctoy which would probably work well for your purposes.

Do these tools also mirror changes? Eg. If I changed a folder name on one hard drive, it would update the folder name on the 2nd HD?

Edit: Ok, SyncToy seems to.
