Would like to see a new Skies of Arcadia one day, but doubt it'll ever happen.
I love you. If they ever made a sequel I would have sworeI died and had gone to heaven. I own both the DC version and Legends for the GC, I heard rumor once that it could be going out on XBLA and if that happened; I would buy it again. Another game series I love is Megaman Legends but I got my wish and they are continuing it.
I, like most of you would agree with Final Fantasy. In a way I wish Guitar Hero would die but the fad has fizzled a bit. Madden should also go away.
Should go on: Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series. I have others but when I think of a series of games that I wish they would make instead of The Forced Unleashed games...it's these. Jedi Kinght is sooo much better than the FUL games.
Should Die: Man so many good options! Know what I'm going to say? Call of Duty. That franchise only has so much left in the tank unless the way the stories are told changes, and they focus less on topping every Michael Bay movie in explosions and action, IMO.
Oh yes, we have been playing that a LOT at our LAN parties, as a drinking game. Empty on beer before start, then go a round, empty a beer, go a round and empty a beer and then try get to goal The rest of the night is great
No one Lives Forever! Come on!.... Any game that has you shooting henchmen and chasing a unicycle riding mime midget while riding on the back of an oversized Scotsman riding a tricycle, deserves a long lasting franchise!
My favorite adventure game. It had a very rocky development, some pics from early versions and links to articles on the history might find interesting:
Yeah... you know... F that. They continued Simon the Sorcerer as well. But all those 3D adaptations were such epic fails that I choose to ignore them. Earthworm Jim had a 3D sequel too which was really bad. That's why people ignore them when making these wishlists. Cause we want real sequels.
Eventually i'll make a re-volt track... and post it here of course! Anyway, other games:
Daytona USA
The best arcade racer, period. The first one set a really high bar for gameplay that wasn't matched until the sequel. 2 never got a home release and it was by far one of the prettiest racing games at the time (1998.) Sadly it will never get properly emulated because of all the proprietary, undocumented chips.
The only game that matched this for me was Outrun 2. Sega AM2 is my hero.
In The Groove
An arcade game made by the core developers from the Stepmania team. It featured better music, hackability and nicer cabinets with the best pads I've ever played on. Too bad Konami sued them and shut it all down, even though they could have made a lot of money off the almost completed ITG3.
Karous
Perhaps you can tell I love arcade games by now. It's basically Radirgy but with cooler visuals. I would have loved to see a sequel, but maybe it's too close to Radirgy to warrant one.
Call of Duty I wasdone after COD4. Stop making them, the people who play this series seem to be ruining the world.
Facebook Games, Wii, Casual gaming
Until everyone is intelligent, I want LESS people to be into games, and not everybody playing them! But hey, I'm crazy.
DSiWare

Team Fortress 2
Oh Valve, you've changed so much. This game was fantastic until they started changing things majorly about a year after release. Seriously, the game is unrecognizable from what I loved. I'll have this uninstalled for a very long time.
Yes! Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines was the best Vampire game ever made. It definitely needs to make a comeback. I'm surprised overall at the lack of Vampires in video-games. They provide all the making of a game. Blood, Death, Superpowers, Tons of Nudity, Blood, Nude people bathing in blood, etc etc...
Maybe it's the nudity part. That's something we don't do too well in video-games.
But think of the bar scene from Mass Effect 2, with all those silhouetted dancers and whatnot. I can totally imagine a scene like that, only Vampire themed.
Continued:
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines for sure! Man, i love it soooo much.
One of my favorite games ever, even with all the bugs. I sure hope Leonard Boyarski's gonna kick some ass on Diablo 3.(all right I'm sure of it:) )
Armed and Dangerous.
This was so amazing. The gameplay was really solid and utilized destructible environments in a cool way. And it was sooo hilarious. Shit, now I want to replay it.)
Police Quest!
I used to play them when I was a kid and I would sure love too see those done right in modern day tech. I hope that L.A. Noire Might deliver something similar.)
And a lot were already mentioned. It's nice to see polycounters love so many great games from the old times.)
I agree on the CoD's. It's getting repetitive. But the Evil Empire will keep pumping them out because the crowd goes nuts every time a new one is announced.
Am I the only one who actually really liked "Advent Rising"? The visuals were pretty terrible (animation as well), but the storyline was incredible. Man I loved that game... It was supposed to be a trilogy, but they just... stopped.
I used to play them when I was a kid and I would sure love too see those done right in modern day tech. I hope that L.A. Noire Might deliver something similar.)
I agree on the Quake 1 atmosphere being superior to all others, that gloomy shit was just tops. The rest was nice too but not as unique. Renzor atmosphere trax ftw!
All the Might and Magic series past 5 was a disgrace to a glorious tradition. Clouds/Swords/World of Xeen was fantastic.
Assassin's creed
Castlevania
God of War
Guitar Hero
World of warcraft
Rise of Kasai (there were only 2 parts)
The games that I wished I had continued or glad playing were:
Guildwars.
Thief.
Prince Of Persia.
NFS
Quake
Unreal Tournament
HL
Portal(since they are about to release the second one I believe that makes it sequencial)
Doom
Crysis
Dangerous Dave
Primal( I soo wish they extend the storyline)
Silent Hill
Resident Evil
Wolfinstine
Age of Empire
Warcraft
Starcraft
Diablo
Untold Legends
Sonic
There are many more I cant think of atm But I am sure I have played em.
Holy shit! Check this out: http://jaggedalliance.com/index.php?id=19&L=1
Not exactly a whole new game, but pretty promising. JA2:Reloaded. I reckon that's the look and feel of the JA3 game, assets being used to quickly recreate JA2 b4 the future lunch of the sequel. Yippi!
Games I'd like to see:
Soldier of Fortune 4
Star WArs battlefront 3
another jedi knight game
bloodrayne 3
Games I'd like to see less of:
Most sports games (how many madden football games are there??)
another guitar hero or said imitation.
games based on movies (NONE of them are any good).
Like to see: Syndicate (as said previously), a 'proper' System Shock 3 (who cares that you're on an abandoned spaceship with a dodgey memory, again! Not me, I'd play it) and Bioforge! That game had an awesome combat system for the time. I'd also like to see 'Spacehulk' (specifically Vengeance of the Blood Angels) done properly, fighting through spaceship hulks in the dark..
OOooh, OOooh, and another TerraNova - Go Looking Glass!
I was looking for related stuff on the Tube and found this.... Haven't heared it since back in the day - still brilliant though..
Front Mission 4 and up completely sucked and lost it.
If they had stayed to the original formula, without changing the battle system in 4 and not completely changing the genre in Evolved the games would have been so much cooler!
oh, and i miss the heroes quest games! the first and second were the best though. specially the first!!! get the ring by throwing a rock at the birds nest.. lol. oh man.
All the Might and Magic series past 5 was a disgrace to a glorious tradition. Clouds/Swords/World of Xeen was fantastic.
y u do dis?
I agree that WoX was awesome, but if you play it again you will notice that it has a large number of gameplay related issues. Imho 6 dealt with them rather well and I consider it to be the highest point in the series. Although it does have much more different atmosphere and graphics are uglier. MM3-5 still manages to look great on DosBox with filtering applied.
Then again...I'm actually surprised to see someone who has played other MM games besides 7 (HoMM3 tie-in and all that).

Hmmm.. I played up to 6 and while it had a very solid gameplay, it felt too... meh. The whole M&M series, including Heroes, had a very distinct, colorful style. 6 and above just weren't part of it anymore. HoMM were all also gr8, absolutely.
I played the M&M collector's edition few years back, all the way thru WoX. Loved it.
I would have liked to see a sequel to the recent Vikings game, it had a lot of flaws but i felt a sequel could have addressed them. Likewise, I would have enjoyed seeing a proper sequel to Quake1's Lovecraft themes, but I guess when the dynamic at Id shifted with the team member changes it just slumped more and more back into familiar space marine territory. Pot calling the kettle black? Well I just make art where I am heh
What would I want to see closed off? Well nothing really, someone out there must like whatever I don't or no sequels are made, if I don't like something I can just play something else, its like changing the channel on tv!
Muzz/slipsius: was toying around with the idea a few years ago, i even got given a bunch of never before seen concept art from the concept artist for Z2 who worked with the bitmap brothers for all the robots. ( http://www.bendarling.net/z_mod/remakes/ )
- Quake1, I want an actual sequel to. Would LOVE to work on this.
- Z
- Full Throttle
- Daytona
- Darkseed
- Duke3D (duke forever looks all consolified, polluted with QTE's and canned animations... sigh)
- Syndicate Wars
- Crusader No Remorse
Ah the memories, if only sequels were done faithful as actual sequels, not franchises just using the same name.
Almost every series I've come to post has already been mentioned. Glad to see Syndicate getting so much love in this thread. I have to second Mutant League as my avatar would suggest. I'd like to throw Bushido Blade and Road Rash into the conversation.
As far as games that need to stop? Well those have been repeatedly mentioned too. Oh, and the farm games on DSi-ware.
Oh someone mentioned Freespace and I just remembered an space game I wanted a sequel for as well: Freelancer. That was a great space shooter/explorer game.

And Bigjohn is that Discworld? it looks familar.

And an old game I loved when I first got into gaming was Faxanadu. I always wished they made a sequel.
- BoBo
What in god's name did I just watch?? ...Scottsman.. tricycle..what??
I still play this game to this day with my friend...we still have yet to beat it.

I know they made Monster Madness, and I love that game.. but It's just not the same.
But i really do second Skies of Arcadia.
Gobliiins was actually continued.

+1 on the NOLF votes.
I do the same thing. We usually get about 20 or 30 levels in and get burned out from getting our asses kicked so much.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltmnDKuqom0[/ame]
Another good series I would loved they continued was Jet Grind/Set radio.

I think we can all agree
psychonauts deserves more of a long line of games!(I really hope the rumors there making a new one are true)

Series that need to die :
FF after 10 I agree 100% (even 10 was just to whiney for me)
Game they should do a sequel to:
One of the best games i played (but did not finish because of the bugs!) i know there making an MMO based on it! cant wait for that :P
Daytona USA

Any of the old Lucasarts adventures.
NOLF3, seconded. But doubtful, seeing as how Monolith don't own the rights for it.
Series that shouldn't continue.. Call of Duty.. enough is enough!
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines for sure! Man, i love it soooo much.

After Gothic II they are all crap.
No more COD's, please.
