The main game takes place over 20 years, and after playing it for an hour or two each day this week I'm about halfway through that time (The PlayStation just launched!)
So far I've been trying to recreate the history of my company to very comedic ends, I also developed World of Warcraft for the GameBoy which received critical acclaim, but still no game of the year
It's really good fun, my only complaint is that it feels a little too "easy" in the sense that I rarely lose money on games. I even tried to pick crappy matchups (Golf Board Game, Marathon Simulation RPG, etc) for crappy platforms and I still almost make my money back.
I'm already looking forward to my next playthrough so I can try to develop my own console.
But I think that will result in me breaking my phone in half and screaming at the top of my lungs as well

Well, if you're only up to the Playstation's release, then that makes sense. It was a lot easier to break even on games back in the 8-bit and 16-bit era. For starters, the development costs were much lower. Perhaps more importantly, the demand for more games during that era was much higher, and the competition was much smaller. It wasn't until after the Playstation that game budgets started to spiral out of control and marketing became more important than development.
If it continues to be too easy to make money back on your games, then you will know that something is broken.

my workers are burnt out, make games rarely get rated better than 4/10 and i have been wasting too much cash on crap :P

@xoliul: no i think you can only hire up to 4 people, but you can hire outside people to do the character design, sound design, etc.
edit: nm, i just moved into a larger office and hired more people
I believe you upgrade your office twice, 4->6->8 seats.

Just do like any good head of studio would do, and fire someone from the trenches.
Different types of applicant searchs seems to yield different kind of jobs and qualities it seems.
and some jobs seems to become available if you level some guy up in a combination of jobs via job switch item.
even hired the wrestlerguy and the bear who escaped from the zoo. no luck yet.
usually you can chose between the 4 base classes, sometimes only 3, and sometimes director or producer isntead of one of the 4 base classes - but never hardware eng.

It does seem rather tricky to get insane profits though. The sequel to my smash hit dating sim sold 12 million (that's a line I never thought I'd say) and I was still way off being able to license the final few consoles.
This is true. Amy is my hardware engineer now and she started as a designer. she's now lv 5 everything but hacker, and her stats are INSANE now. I'm at the 15th year but she's almost 400 in one of her stats and 200-350 in all the rest.
then again, she's also 4k to keep hired :X

When the game is complete and the notification window pops up (where you click 'ship') the option to 'change title' is there.
