    Aww, c'mon dude, ok let me tell you which part that you need to edit/ modify, your ATTITUDE. Please respect what people have said to you whether you like what they said or not.

    Now I wanna ask you a question, why do you so desperately what a "good job" comments?..don't act like a spoil kid to their parent when they show their first drawing with crayon to the parent, and the parent says "nice"!..you said you're not kid anymore and somehow not noob either, then quit being such an arrogant defending your work and listen to what people said, for god sake.

    You're not even said thanks to BlackulaDZ by giving his time searching google for reference for you.

    Seriously you don't need to model the nipple if you going to make her wearing some dress, I mean what's the point?..now stop watching porn and do your work, continue with searching reference about anatomy, the PROPER anatomy. if you not familiar with the proper human anatomy how can you even deform it without making it looks scary?..people said "know the rules than only break it" not "break the rule, just cause it doesn't fit you".

    You're 19? You should be modeling megan fox. What the hell are you doing with this stuff? Why make the nipple if you have clothes like Revel said? Why are you making a child proportion or a stylized female? Just do your best on something else your model does not have a place in a game and it's better to just try your hand at something else. That's real talk I'm not even trying to insult you. I just don't see how you as a 19 year old person trying to get a job in the game industry make this, why? What is the point?

    PS: I don't agree with the stop watching porn part. Just thought I should say that.

    I'm saying that because I just got an impression he model the nipple complete with the color (even though the model haven't finish yet, why would he put the texture already?) for his own satisfaction. Watching too much porn make you hard to focus on your work, specially when modeling a girl..Lol

    One thing ive learnt fast about making something appealing. If people think its creepy when its a wip, that isn't going to change when you finish.

    With this stuff you don't want to have to explain why it isn't creepy to every one of your audience.

    For example i never listened to people when i made this as a student about how creepy it was. Really i just should have listened because it would have made the biggest difference.

    My advice? go model some characters off already appealing concepts, from kids cartoons ect. That should give you a good feeling about what makes things appealing.

    at first; this project isn´t for a game. it is for a little movie I have to make.(yes i have to make it because if I want to study it is needed to make something to show of skills mostly
    storyboarding or animation or some more things. I have to read the rules again and again to not forget what is needed. )



    second; the dam breast are never intendet to be seen in any second of the film.

    third;yes i wasted my time with trying to paint the whole object.

    fourth; it is the second texture work on a human that I ever made so I wanted to make it as good as i can to use it again in another project.
    for some "rocketboxing"(is it called like that? if you reuse parts of another old project you had done?)


    fifth; almost everyone have breasts even nipels. it might be wrong to build them in your eyes but it is for me only one thing; practise and even more practise.
    I also got said in this thread that i woudn´t put so much details in it - wait i did and anyone is complayining now .. it is confusing for me breally too much.

    I changed the whole proportions of the so called "chucky" head. I gave the head a more general look.
    (i also used some beauty masks that where used for plastic surgery to give her a face which is aceptable to get away from the "chucky scary face")
    I have listened to coments i hardly searched for useful tips in any post and i changed whatever i was able to do.

    six; yes it may look strange ,someone with less expirience doesn´t like to get said that he doesn´t do anything to improve himselve (please read number five or eight to understand why)

    if anyone is only giving coments where they are complaining only about breasts it doesn´t help me much. (please read number eight to understand why)


    seven; if i had ever kown that a messy room with some toys thrown in it and some false proportions on a "human" look alike mesh and god dam breasts with nippels would make such a big wave, i woudln´t have imagine to post anything here and you will never! see the nipels in the final clip .(please read number three what i now would say to myself to the fact that i have build them )


    eight; I take critism I listen to everyone -I write to almost everyone to say my opinion if it is harsh in my opinion or if i don´t understand something which was written.
    If i am "rude" or may attend to act like an "asshole" or "arogant" person than it is because I don´t acept rude unfriendly coments, it also doesn´t help that some people
    may work in the industry. if you post anything without giving a little tip i remind it to you and say why I am complaining about your written post.
    if you say that my work is crap ok i can life with it then be gentle and make an overpaint or link to a good place to learn or put a picture of some reference material in your coment or only write that you dislike it (it is ok if you say it, but only! if you try to be helpfull)


    nine; if someone is attacing you - what would you do?
    I am different I don´t run away . I am standing in this forum, I read everything I try to say why I do the things I read every posting to understand why it is so freaky to try to make a human like figure and build a messy room where there is one
    soft toy placed in it I also have god dam soft toys in my room so it can´t be so offending (in my eyes) to put it in a simple scene to give more autentic - more living to the room.

    these dolls wheren´t my only reference I also watched several movies (mostly trailers and artwork) to get a clue how they could got to their final point.
    the monkey was a project that I did for a nice scoolmate as a birthday gift.


    ten; that I also will try to make books and magazines to give the environment another look is written in the dam todo list but im not giving my todo list away (ifen if no one would(and probalby never will) care to read the list)



    I for example tried to model donald duck. - why? because i wanted to test a new workflow and I like the design of these ducks. (settlers 3 is also cool.)


    Ps; building megan fox? no way i know what you mean with that trying the likeness path is a good way to improve themself but megan fox ?
    I think Audrey Hepburn is way better (the personal taste is realy different ;-) )

    If there are much written mistakes then please ignore it, I was typing in a rush.


    Last thing;
    I am not trying to do porn. -.- for real this doesn´t help if you still want to put me in a false light or hardly want to interpret my words false because you dislike me or such crazy thing.

    I didn't necessarily mean megan fox, I had written megan foxes to imply anyone of that nature but I guess I deleted it at some point.. You overlayed the picture, get to crackin and making the proportions right! Notice how off it is, that and the strange amount of detail in certain places is whats making it creepy. Fix it as soon as you can and then post pics when you do, that's all.

    Coulda spent those 10 minutes working on it instead of typing all that, no one is gonna suddenly go OH WELL NOW I UNDERSTAND no just show us through the art. And stop posting pics of her naked if its not gonna be an adult form, you can build it but keep it to yourself. Anyways I'll have to refrain from posting here because its all getting lost, but I'll be the first to say good job if you do what you gotta do and get it done right. Good luck, peace.

    You should defintely follow the paintover of iomeen, but i'm sorry, even with this WAY cuter face, I would definetely slim down the breasts a tad cause it's still weird (at least less sexualized which is always good when it comes to children) broaden the shoulders cause she has no evident shoulder, and slim down the thigh cause the curves tell "sexy woman" it's not the best way...

    Also I believe I have to say pretty much no one here has any kind of problem with breasts, be them in our art or in our hands. Everyone's used to working with nudity, it's not supposed to be an uncomfortable subject for any artist. The issue with your model is the unnecessary focus on the breasts and, specially, the nipples. As it was said before there was no need to do them if you're going to dress the model and all in all they just look plain weird, like she had a botched boob job or something.

    I have shown my work to many people (also to some people in a German EA studio where I work now in the QA [in your eyes only in the QA- but you know what?     I really dont think your work all that bad, even the pink room one - ok that WAS really kind of weird but only when u put it out of the context. I mean really guys? We make cg stuffs. And sometimes when some inexperiences got into our wips things could go pretty terrifying. We know that, at least I do, I made stuffs scared myself shitless when I looked back althe time. But TNO I think this is when you should take a hint: either appreciate all comments that said the truth-no matter how harsh they sounded, or secretly refine ur stuff to the final and TRY to prove them wrong WITH YOUR WORK. DON'T fight back. Ever. Viewers always have a point. Unless its a dead certain concept or reason you wanted, which in this case its not.

    I think ppl are reacting to this poorly becuz you put to much sex into a baby body and putting it in a weird environment. I have to say its a tough style to nail, at least to me. I wouldn't go for it unless I'm super confident about anatomy and styles. Personally I really don't think ur work is horrible at all(face it we all made way worse stuffs), its just your progress still too far from your refs and most importantly the way your presenting it could easily lead viewers into a wrong direction. So, again, I'd take the hint, either do what I'm told, or keep working it by myself til Im sure its good&done.

    Enough babbling. I spent my time to write this only hoping you not wasting more of yours. Theres to lil time for personal argument in this business. If you really think some replies are unfair just stop responding. Ever. You could easily end up with a fight that you really wish didn't happen.

    Back to the art, I dont think the head was bad at the first place, but really tone down the style fight:either bring down the sex on her facial feature or make her body with less baby fat and more grown proportions. See none of your refs have baby fat on their body. Their legs&arms are really long and if they looked like sex objects that's becuz they're ok to be so. And its not the case with ur model and again I guess that's waht's been creeping ppl, plus the fact u continued to show her naked without comprehending the situation.

    TNO, you have to learn to take criticism better.

    Whether someone explains why they think something is creepy, or just says something looks "creepy", it's still their thoughts about that image or 3D model. They are taking the time to tell you it doesn't look right, and you gaining that knowledge (that people think it's creepy), is helpful in changing the direction you are going.

    People are not going to say things in a soft way all the time. That doesn't mean they are attacking you. Sometimes they mean the best intent even if their words don't sound nice. You are going to meet people that say things in much more brutally honest ways than what has been posted in here, and you will just make yourself miserable if you take everything as a personal attack.

    Other people have given good advice on the model, but if you take anything away from this thread, I hope you stop to think how many people in here are saying basically the same thing about your attitude towards criticism. It's an important point. Take it in, and think about it.

    I should also mention that this kind of attitude gets you blacklisted by recruiters. All recruiters know each other, they all call each other. And the first thing a recruiter does when he sees a potential portfolio is to ask his art team.

    Regardless of who is right or wrong, don't start posting negative statements, stay positive, fix it or ignore it.

    Remember, being part of a studio is also giving up a large part of the self. If you can't do that, then you have no place in the studio.

    My studio friends have basically told me stories, and shown me the portfolios of extremely skilled people who will never get a job in the industry every since they pissed showed a bit of attitude.

    jup thats why I consider to only post the final movie here in the future i won´t post anymore wip work -no steps inbetween only the final result wich will be a little movie if I can reach what I wanted to make.

    Andrew Hickinbottom is a great artist who is in my cgsociety-like-portfolio list
    since many months.
    My biggest mistake was to give to less information about what I want to make and what references I used and use. The pink room was at the beginning it bugs me that poeple still complain about that because I changed the colors of the walls and more.

    In other boards I postet my work the people their are not talking so offensive stuff like saying that I try to do pedo stuff. for real I made clothes postet them here too and anybody should know that she will get the clothes on again after the mesh of the human is completed why would i build clothes if i don´t use them later?

    I think you would be angry too if someone claims to say that you don´t changed anything and says non art related stuff about you.

    cristism yes. personal fights no.
    If someone says that the ART still looks WRONG ,I will accept that will write the given advices in my todo list make the changes on the meshes the textures
    and be thankfull that it got said.

    Where are your concept sheets ? If your assignement is to make a little movie from start to finish then there sure is a requirement for the early production stages too (mood boards, concept art)

    Its near impossible to give advice or do paintovers if one doesnt know what the final goal is supposed to look like.

    This scene if worthless, you can't just make a scene and then, make-up a story for it.... wtf is that>?! My suggestion is put some clothes on the model, call it done and move the fuck on. Her look is real bland, and you need some anatomy work, look at her arms and legs.

    and when people say "this is disturbing me" maybe you should pay attention.

    Dude, don't get so angry. You know why? There seems to be an increase in people like this. They just post stuff, get to involved with whatever they think is absolutley right and completley ignore everyone else, even when they posted their work here for criticism. I mean, OP didn't even fix anotomical errors before moving on to rigging.

    I've yet to finish the whole thread but all I'm saying is don't get so worked up over what seems to be happening a lot these days. You might get an infraction over someones ignorance.

    I've read this whole thread and I felt the urge to contribute because it seems to me there is a relatively simple way of killing this fractious tone of conversation.

    Basically people have looked at your work and commented that your model of a human female of indistinct age looks like a child with a boob job. Which is a completely relevant and appropriate remark to make. During the evolution of this thread and of your work you could have endeavoured to fix that problem. People have offered paintovers and links (including the excellent link that bugworld offered a few posts earlier) and suggestions to help you fix it but you've been pretty tactless and graceless in receipt of that advice. In the end you really need to be able to look at your model, to hear these crits ringing in your ears, and be willing to change it. I haven't seen anything from you that I would consider to be a real effort to fix your model, just endless apologising and caveats.

    The alternative is, of course, that you are comfortable with people having the impression that your model is a child and you are happy with the resultant air of awkwardness/uneasiness in your work.

    I haven't gotten any further technical advice to give, simply because you've had it all already, you've gotten all the resources and the objective opinions from this board that you need to make your model work.

    Long story short, you have to be able to look at your model and tell yourself it looks like shit. And I don't mean YOU, personally, it's something every artist must learn and something I do to myself everytime, even to models I once considered good. That's how you improve. Maybe you won't know why it sucks but that's why criticism is for. You asked for it, people delivered. You're now aware that you have pretty much all the basics wrong, if I were you I'd just scrape the whole thing and start fresh with a stablished concept in mind (and on paper) so you have a direction to follow instead of doing things on the fly.

    That's what I've been saying (with few others) for a few pages now, but he obviously don't want to listen or is simply trolling us, I'm pretty sure all the comments going in that direction will be completely ignored or used as provocations to push the "discussion" further without actually making the model change... So no point in commenting anymore I guess.

    Hi TNO, let's start to talk friendly, shall we?..well, probably you already know this but I just want to remind you that things that related to art/ design industry is based on personal taste, but there's gotta be some standard that everybody agree that it is good or bad. So whether you like it or not, your personality have some involvement in your art especially if you're working in the studio/ working with other people. If you keep your attitude of always defending your self no matter what, its gonna get you into trouble.

    From the start why did you said that people is attacking you personally?..cause people said you are a pedo?..who said you are a pedo in the first place?..people are commenting your -from what you refer to- "art related", you see. Why are people saying your work like pedo? because you keep showing a baby proportion with a grown up boobs+make up.

    So what is the thing that you don't understand right now?..you should put in your todo list:
    1. learn to take criticism
    2. fix the proportion, by slimming down the arms and legs and boobs
    3. place the muscle in the correct place, check the lower leg and forearm for example
    4. post your current progress into the forum with cheerful mood
    5. if you lucky, you will get more comments and you should go back to the first point.

    By stop posting your wip, you just making your self looks bad and tell us how childish you are. Look, what you need to become a good artist is not the final product, but the process of getting to the final product.

    Now if you find my posting is still offending and wont listen to it..well, you need more "good luck" from the polycounters then.

    the little fat Dragon unicorn that needs just a little work in the mouth.
    it is the pet of the main caracter which makes her afraid in the first scene . (who has ever seen a unicorn Dragon? and wouldn´t be afaid of it first?


    I won´t write that much anymore and stop posting for some days because I have many changes in the line and have to speed up again.

    a fresh start would make me more than happy.

    The top of that female's head should not be that pointy. Also the mouth loops could be more loop-like.

    is that tiny thing on the dragon forehead suposed to be a horn?? lol id make it way larger. and still, why would she be scared by such a friendly looking dragon? i mean, if she isn't creeped out by her own appearence, she certainly won't be scared of a dragon without tooth. I suggest u scrap the idea of making her scared. the dragon looks great as a friendly dragon. btw what are the strange flaps on his hips? im not sure what thats supposed to do. are they wings?

    I think this is definitely an improvement.
    Something is sticking out from the temples, I'd flatten them.

    About the dragon: The horn is funny, just make it much thicker and straighten it. The spikes on its back could be more constant.

    I have no idea what youre talking about but I think the scene with the girl in the room has potential, her eyes are rather squint though, the dragon is starting to look like a fun little character but his wings are in a strange place. dragon wings are usually placed behind the shoulders like shoulder blades.

    I completely agree about the dragon's horn. I mean, it's funny to stylize it and make it tiny but right now it looks like it would snap off if a light wind picked up. Thicken it a bit more and straighten it a tad and you'll be in business. Cool stuff, otherwise!

    haha...oh god anyway, lol, the room looks great, you've done a great job making it seem like it's been lived in and is real...I also agree that the wings on the dragon should be moved up to the actual shoulder, the horn really does seem too thin...maybe if you make the base a lot more thick? You could still make it pretty thin towards the top, but the base has to be thicker

    The connection from the body to the tail seems a bit awkward to me....maybe make that area thicker too?

    As already mentioned, this has potential just keep up the work, take critique and a apply it.

    Crits:

    on the dragon, try and put the arms a little higher, the placement of the wings seems wholly unnatural and is odd to look at, try placing higher on the body, ideally behind or slightly above the arms, experiment and see what looks best.

    The legs of the dragon bother, more to the point: The thing area and how its connected to the body. Is the dragon supposed to wear a diaper? or odd pants? if not, then those holes just makes him look like some freakish biology experiment.
    Round off the area and make the legs connect more with the lower body.

    At first I hated the things, but once I looked at the textured ones it started reminding me of those claymation specials from the early 90s. If that is the look you are going for than more power to you!

    If you are going for cartoony pixar or realistic bioware style, then you've got work to do.
