Even a pixel wider would slam a horizontal scroller onto my browser. I browse the forums alot on my netbook and anything wider would be a major pain in the ass.
oh and another thing.
sometimes it randomly choses to tell me "Hey there, ParoXum!" or other polycount-usernames. is that a feature i don't understand yet ? - like introducing users to each other ? or is that bug of some kind ?

I like having that status info on the bottom rather than under the avatar because it actually saves more space than before and doesnt waste any extra since its sharing the same line as the report, quote and reply buttons use anyway.
But what would be nice if you can hide that info, just like you can hide avatars and sigs.
This info is not that important to me and having it in between every post just makes the thread look more cluttered.
It would also be nice to have all this info pop up either on mouseover of someone's username, or in that little popup box when you click their names.
The "Last edited by Yozora; Today at 07:31 PM.." should also be combined with the title bar since there is space there instead of creating 2 whole new lines just to show the post has been edited.
So for example the title bar would be like;
Yozora on Today 07:28 PM, last edited by xxx; Today at 07:31 PM..
woot indeed!! awesome job guys, really awesome! Have put so much work into it, im sure it'll only improve and get better from here. all the forum RSS feeds are intact, and i can RSS the main page!! which lead me to...
For one second, im going to go back to what i've been complaining a lot about:
There needs to be more images on the main page to represent stories, and every story must be accompanied by an image. When i was looking at the main page RSS in google reader, i got to see all the pretty images in the story... which are all cool looking, and I wanted to read them (which i did!)!
Unfortunately, it took me using an external site to even care to want to click on any news story. Its not that I don't respect the work, but as a user I have no reason to want to read anything. The prettiest and most eye-grabbing & inviting story is the Crazy Bump one, because it is graphically represented. Everything else gets lost, is a mush, and becomes unimportant with nothing to relate to the titles. The Valve one is nice... but it doesn't follow a style guide or layout that a professional site would have - and i view polycount as a professional site. Even the most important story of them all - that polycount just got a facelift, is completely lost (i didnt even know it was there).
I understand it would be crazy busy with all those images everywhere - banner, advertisement, 8 stories... which is a good reason not to want to do it. I can just stick to Google Reader, and get my pretty pictures that way
Really nice update guys. The layout looks very clean.
The only thing I find distracting when reading a thread is the status on the bottom of each post. That dark grey space and green letters breaks a little the continuity of the conversation...
The contest got posted on the Team Fortress blog so it's probably causing a spike in web traffic. :O
yeah it's gettin' chuggy. what happens if this gets posted on Kotaku? major slowdown for the site, oh noes! . tons of publicity though, for what it's worth.
I am scared and things seem kind of funky with the forum, too small
Also that TF 2 competition looks ace, in before the forum is flooded by idiots though.
u get:
-images to relate to updates
-horizontal boxes to match horizontal text
-order: top half = news, bottom half = community (i think community should be more prominent on main page, anyways)
-categories: its always the same stuff, some ppl dont care about certain type of news and can simply look where they care
Really awesome work guys, all of us here appreciate it.
For what its worth, I agree with those who said they prefer the user info under the avatar like it used to be. Just my opinion. I know how much work goes into stuff like this, and usually there is a reason for every decision.
Congratulations on the new site motif. I think it's very stylish and enjoyable. Good luck moving forward with this, and please let me know if I can be of service.
Congratulations guys (adam, r13 and others) on the release.
Pity about the opening uber lag - great idea with the tf2 team-up (im so gonna enter..), but maybe in hidsight you should've waited a week before announcing the comp.

the valve contest is killing me
and yay for the headers finally linking to the according sites
but i gotta admit that the forum style is pretty hard to read
will there be some "old skin"-option available in the future ?
I was having a particularly bad day, thank you new PC for making it better.

There is an RSS link at the top and bottom of the pages. I'm not sure yet what it will allow for filtering though (if anything).
Already mentioned
+1 to this or maybe put the username below the avatar aswell or something, but other than that, everything is looking rather nice!

Can you setup the news page to have a better layout? It feels a bit crowded.
I would REALLY love the return of a 'first unread' option for each thread though :P

i has a sad
btw, why do some people have the default avatar posted below their own avatar? does that happen when you make a very long post or something?
oh and the text in this typing window is really small, could you make it the same size as the regular posts?
Why is that?

Yeah, I hope this wont get filled by gaming trolls, here's hoping fame wont get in the way of good game art production.

Congrats and thanks to everyone involved in making this update happen.
I think it's going to take a little while to get used to all the changes.
