Woo! I'm stoked you guys are excited for it. It's been a big undertaking and yesterday I was on cloud 9 over the small amount of bugs we have remaining. It's close! SO CLOSE.
I'm using the NASA Night Launch theme, its awesomely dark.
^ What he said. ADAM what Firefox theme are you using... I want my Firefox to blend in with Polycount like that too!
you guys are using Mozilla FireFox? Doesnt that slows your computer down to uber extreme when you are trying to go on the polycount? I had to uninstall mine.
I guess I'll get it back and read some more about how to fix it than...=\

just release it already..enough of the cockteasing.. lol
Will we have to re-register, thus losing our l33t October 2004 join dates?
No, we will be transferring the current boards over the new domain. Which is why there will be some down time, just to make sure everything is fine and dandy.
So all usernames/posts/avatars/etc should remain intact (hopefully).

Nope. I've been using it for years since a few months before 2.0 or something. Even on crappy hardware a few months ago it ran fine. Sure, Chrome was faster, but alot less stable too.
I don't suppose I can blame your rig? Always the easy route.
If it goes well no one should have to re-enter any current information, and the join dates, post count, message inboxes, etc. etc. should remain the same.

Polycount works fine with FireFox here, the only things that bothers me is that if I try to play embedded YT videos here it locks up for a few seconds.
I remember the first time i ever found myself on polycount, it was the classic green and that scared me away, I don't think I was even a modeler then. Later I came back and the lack of homepage confused me and I left. Now neither of those problems will exist.
I guess I will have to change my bookmark soon to start me out on the home page.
After all this teasing, it's hard to wait. I think I am most looking forward to a new banner system. One with new art and links to threads and such.:)

Doesn't happen on any other site.
I blame adobe for that one, I got the same issues in Chrome.
I did get crashes when I first used flash stuff on this new laptop, but that was easily fixed by disabling hardware acceleration in the flash options. Ati bug, I've always been a Nvidia man...
Im so excited. Im glad to hear that we'll be hearing news from other communities. I hope this includes the ones that dont speak in english (like many who participate in the Dominance Wars.)
I had a thought could we not get a dedicated game section in the forum. Where you discuss anything, about games but not specifically art, games you made in progress, games you like are playing?, what was with limbo of the lost?, and other game centric conversational topics.
After reading the thread;
Will the adverts will be purely 3d related?
Are you going to interview other people as well, like XNormal's Santiago Orgaz and Xoliul for his direct x hardware shader?
*Also considering the last question, will there be links on the homepage/frontpage to support threads where new members can download these products?

As for the second thing, creating a sub-forum for just game discussion would clutter the forums and would potentially only get a handfull of viewers. Generally that is what General Discussion is for

As for the ads, I'll leave that one for Adam as I don't entirely know for certain.
Yes, we will have more interivews (exclusive to Polycount as well as non-exclusive to Polycount) and we do have others lined up as we speak.
As for links, yes they will be provided for product specific interviews.
All I ask is dont become another CGtalk or GameArtists. We already have those over commercial/fluff places where people are buried under the hype.
PC was great because of the honesty, the assholes and the nice ones. And not being surrounded by Ad's, or professionals to such a degree that you were a spec if you asked the wrong question or had n00b work in an area.

Good, I was wrong.
Absolutely awesome work man!
Oh, and may I ask what Firefox theme that is? It's been asked before in http://boards.polycount.net/showthread.php?t=69345, that awesome thread.
Also...

The new organization and functionality will be a most welcome change as well.
Thanks to all involved for taking the time to make our Polycount experience even better.
Ah yes! Thank you.
I've come by that skin looking for it a few times, though without an image of proper size I've always just skipped it.

Or something.. O.o
Looks great, can't wait for the launch!
Looks pretty good adam!
profit?
Thankyou!
Just read the OP in detail, so so excited.
I just wanna say thankyou for the amount of work you guys do, it really is amazing that a community like this exists! /nohomo
AWESOME! way to go guys. im quite excited bout this! good work!
Go back 10 years and it was a thriving hub of modding, modelling, texturing and gaming.
We are trying to build it back up to be equal or greater to what it was in the past! Forums are only a part of it...

How much will the ad space cost ?

Fun fact: I've never clicked on an RSS button.

Though looking forward to Polycount 2.0

So if we have a game we maybe are pimping, we would post it in the art wip section I guess.
