Yes! Been waiting for this ever since hearing about it and of course being wowed by the first one. Went into Blockbuster early only for them to tell me to wait another 6 days, it's out now but now I'm skint
Might have to exchange some old xbox games and try to get a copy.
If you're only looking at the shooting aspect of it, yes... Bioshock 1 WAS a very mediocre first person shooter. However, the environment was nice, the story was unique/interesting, and the game was fairly well done overall.
Granted, they did seem to go overboard on specular maps and a lot of the textures looked like clay, but it still wasn't a bad game.
This is the last attempt since its the last day to pre-order. You want to save some money, Im attempting a four pack. I have seen some of you have pre-ordered on the PC steam group already.
I don't know why no one wants to do this. What am I going to do? Take your money and run? Everyone seemed into wanting the Borderlands four packs. Do I smell or something?
Blenderhead: I don know, seems a fair enough request to me. It just be frustrating that nobody is taking him up on his offer. I certainly would if I hadn't just spent money on the Overgrowth/NS2 pre-order.
edit: although, having said that, I'm waiting for them to drop the drm-shit. As it stands, I might just play a friends copy once he's done. It means foregoing multiplayer (together, at least, heh), but I'm not keen on installing the drm due to previous issues.
It also really grates that those who steal it don't have to bother with the drm at all.
Insane trailer! I'm going to wait for a while before I pick this one up, as I have waaay too many games to play at them moment. I do miss Rapture though...
so, I bought the 4 pack... is there any way to give the fourth copy of Bioshock 1 to myself? It's not on my games list.. and I don't see myself in the list of people to give it too. it'd be incredibly retarded if I don't get to keep the game for myself.

yes.. I know.. like I said, there's no way to give it to ME since I don't own it already. I'd like it to be linked to this account, so I'm wary about emailing it to myself.. I can't think of any other way to do it, though.
I wonder if you can gift it to someone that already has it, then they gift it back to you? If want to try that give me a shout if Im on. Going ahead and ordering single copy. :.(
it's pretty fucked how people who buy on steam are "punished" by getting it later than normal, or now, in this case, not being allowed to pre load... which for a game that big will basically be like another 5-6 hours anyway.
at least they fixed the release date for somewhere around the correct time (correct for PST.. not for EST), but it's much better than borderlands where we got it two weeks late, and MW2 and L4D2 where it was a day later.
the benefit should be getting it early, if anything..
damnit, Games for Windows Live should die a horrible death.
its all thats standing between me and this game.
(not to mention coz its online reinstalling the game won't fix it).
serously who thought GFWL was a good idea
Nothing wrong with GFWL. If your pc is set up right and you don't act like an idiot installing it, or trying to install duff pirate games, its perfectly fine. Never had any issues with it. At all.
Downloading now from Steam at 2.1meg/second, should have it soon...
Hey all, this may sound stupid.. But where is my serial number for the steam download? Stupid secure rom (wtf are they even using that with the steam version? Thats the whole point of steam!) is asking. The email receipt for the purchase did not list one.
Edit:
NM, it was hidden behind in separate window.
Positives thus far:
-Like the water effects, kudos.
-Amazing lighting.
-Story has my attention thus far.
-The new twist on the symbolism with
the whole Subjective versus Objective undertone going on
The Bad:
-Lip synch is way off. Breaks the whole mood.
-WTF is securerom on Steam version? Valve should make companies that want their products on steam, for the steam version to not have these. Its simply not necessary.
-Augh! Games for Windows.
Its shaping up to be a worthy successor. I just hope its not too short a game. The MP inclusion makes me wonder though.

Haven't tried MP yet.
Common thought. Ill lay it out for ya so theres no confusion. MP was done by an entirely seperate studio that has entirely different milestones. Not to mention engine. There was nothing MP did that impacted, pulled away, added to, ect ect to SP. 2 seperate entites done by 2 seperate studios merged onto 1 disk.
So long answer short, no, SP was not cut short for development time on MP and vice versa.
We hope you do enjoy it Though i admit, its far more fun (MP) on PC. But im biased to mouse keyboard response rather than joysticks.
Odium: man, your new avatar keeps confusing me into thinking it's someone who was previously unknown for stupid remarks making a dick of himself.
If you didn't have any problems with it, certainly nobody else could have, short of having done something stupid themselves, right?
Oxy: I don't get the need for Securom on the Steam install either. I forgot, but does Bioshock 2 force you to run gfwl in addition to Steam, too?
edit: I take that as a yes. You posted while I was typing.
Stimpack: Different engines, really? They're doing this for the new Medal of Honor games, supposedly, and I'm just very confused about the possible advantages, when weighed against everything that can go wrong. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't this complicate just about anything, as far as sharing art goes, or getting controls/physics/etc. to match up?

There was alot of art sharing. it was done on Unreal so its just the package system. Easy enough to create specific packages for said engine as long as sources are kept for art. I dont know all the ins and outs of how they made sure both were up to same par. but theres a small army of programers that worked night and day to make it work Perhapse someone else could chim in and give a more clear view of how it was managed. From the art side of things it was just subtle differences in shaders. tech side, im sure was a whole different beast.
Gotta say this is well worth the extra 40 bucks. The art book alone I would have paid 40 for. It's great and blows the first one out of the water. The little posters are great and the full size vinyl will look fantastic framed and hung up in my office.
Can't wait to get home and play. Nicely done guys. Nicely done.
Now would you kindly send me all your royalty checks.

I guess that would normally be me, but if I remember the language of my contract correctly it would probably be wise to not . Besides you have 10x the insight into the difference in shaders than I do ;(.
A lot of hard work went into it... the MP team was a great group of people.
1) Why the hell can't I use my controller, since they force us to use GFW Live anyway?
2) it fucking crashed on me as soon as I tried to open GFW Live to see my achievement. GG. lost an hour of play since it apparently doesn't autosave as it should.

I liked it! Can not wait!

STILL LOOKING FOR PEOPLE FOR THE STEAM 4 PACK.
Got one yes. So two of you and we are gold. Paypal me, Google pay, hell send me a check. We all know one another enough not to screw around.
Or, you can spend $44 versus having spent $34.

PM me by this morning if you want this deal.

looks like the day timer now on the proper schedule for midnight release. still no preload though - lame.

Seems like the fears that this would be a simple rehash are unfounded, might have to give this game a go... when i have more money... and time

at least we got it cheaper

Makes me sad, I was looking forward to the multiplayer...
Not going to get in to it until I beat the game though.

I'll post some of the stuff that I made for it next week. I wonder if I am going to get pigeonholed as the 'giant squid guy' http://www.shacknews.com/screenshots.x?gallery=12155&game_id=5168&id=136057#img136057
