from what i recall it was PC exclusive and the early tech demo's were showing a partnership between the dev's and intel to promote what was then new pentium d's
Kinda lost interest over the years, bring on max payne pls
That trailer picked my interest... i could definately get into something like that if it was done smart. The plot sounds similar to In the Mouth of Madness but thats by no means bad.
I literally couldn't wait for it to install when I bought it, and I can honestly say that it was one of the most devastatingly disappointing gaming experiences of my whole life. Probably one of the best examples of how not to make a game I can think of.
Haha. It ended up being a suckfest, yeah, but it had some neat ideas:
The car interiors
The combat system
The inventory
Navigating through the hotel as it starts to shift and change
The part where you exit the hotel and drive through New York as it gets all fractured and fucked up
I reckon 2 or 3 more months of work/balancing/testing and it would have hit a home run. But yeah. All of those great ideas were executed piss poorly. Shame!
I completely lost interest in Alan Wake about half a year ago when they announced that the gameplay would be changed to appeal to a wide audience of console players.
And IIRC Remedy stopped development on the PC version and responsibility now is Microsoft's who do not seem to touch that project at all.

I think the PC version is "Up to Microsoft" because they are the publisher (thus the only console is the 360 *NO PS3 ). Remedy would do the PC version if MS publishes/pays for it. MS is pushing the 360 hardware, and releasing this game ahead of the PC version (if there will be one). They would need the excusivity* of this game to wave in the face of the PS3 gamer camp...

...that is if it's as awesome as they say.
Thing is I don't have the slightest faith in Microsoft to deliver a PC version, let alone a good one.
Call me bitter, but Halo, the Halo2 port to Vista, Peter Moore's promise in (I think) 2006, Shadowrun and the farce that is Games for Windows (Live) drew a picture that I cannot get out of my mind...

Me neither, I've seen what they do to ports to PC for the sake of pushing that "Games for Windows" label. Would have been better off NOT doing it. In the case of GoW and GoW2, I would have liked to see those on PC just for the tools.
“Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience “Alan Wake” was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform.”
Bad call on no PC... Bad, bad call... 360 it is then
Also, that SE is weak... This game screamed at me for an awesome Alan Wake torch, maybe scrtatched and battle damaged a little, burnt... How could they not do that...?
I'm pretty sure the real answer is that they won't make enough money on a PC version to justify the costs of publishing it.
I'm pretty sure that's bullshit as porting from 360 to PC is hardly the most expensive thing to do and PC gamers would leap all over this.
The real reason is that the 360 is woefully short on exclusives these days and Microsoft knows it. They've got Halo aaaaaaand... lots of multi-platform stuff. They want Alan Wake to be a big name they can wave around and say "Look! Look! We still have exclusive stuff! We still do that!" while everyone is going nutshit over God of War.

Exactly, M$ wants to make this an exclusive and I am 100% sure that in a year or two it's going to be released on PC "The sales were great! We decided to port it on PC too now!"
I called bullshit on that quote because there will be some people that would honestly believe that a big TV screen, a couch, and a controller can give you a more cinematic experience. /RRARGE
I'm totally excited for this! Been telling people its gonna be game of the year for like 4 years tho :< I read recently there is going to be a mini twin peaks esk web-series on xbox leading the story in. Hope that isn't lame or it might spoil the start.
Not read the reviews. Work people say there mixed.
A good friend of mine works at Remedy, those guys have been doing a great job, I think this game is going to be a blast... I am not a console gamer but this is one thing I might buy for 360
The thing that kept my hope for this game is an un-wavering respect for Remedy. I think they are excellent story tellers unbelievable artists! I'm going to have to set some real time aside.
I was super excited for this game, but it's not going to be on PC . The room my xbox is in is not set up for dark scary games at all. Maybe in a year they'll port it and I can play in my dark, silent office.
More and more I'm getting this vibe of "You should be lucky you're getting anything at all" when it comes publishing PC games. That's a bullshit excuse if I've ever heard one - the best way to experience Alan Wake is on the Xbox 360, so you PC gamers get nothing at all?!
Hell, an XBox 360 controller plugs directly into a PC, WTF!!!
Really, my 1920x1200 monitor with my GeForce GTX285 graphics card won't give me a good Alan Wake experience? It used to be PC gaming pushed the boundaries on graphics and technology, not anymore I guess.
Just one more long, slow nail in the coffin for PC gaming.

Last thing I read about it (probably two years ago) was that it will be a 360 exclusive.
Looks more clich

This game and Heavy Rain, are the two games I'm most looking forward to this next year.
Me too, I love these types of games.

Navigating through the hotel as it starts to shift and change

Yeah its old, but I am so excited to play it I thought I would just post and see if anyone shared my interest
...just finished watching it... dude... this looks awesome!

It gave me the same vibe that the first resident evil did all those years ago.

Looking forward to it, Yes indeed. I'll probably crap my pants though.

I'm a huge fan of max payne 1 and 2, in fact it all started with max payne modding for me!

I was really looking forward to this game and I don't own a console. Oh well...
