can't wait to start playing with teh editor. working on my second play through of the game as a Vanquisher. I only put points into Ranged weapons Expertise, Critical strikes, Adventurer and Explosive shot. Basicly anything that will increase my dps based on a %. (and adventurer cause you get more xp, yay!).
looking forward to making some little weapons and stuff for this game, do we have to go by those instructions and use blender? is there no way to just export from max and import into the editor? I guess we will know when its out.
3D Max is what we use at Runic and we are releasing all of our tools , custom exporters, Max files of the main characters,rigged, a tile set with props (crypt) one or 2 of each weapon type all with pngs ect. All with explanations of how to get them into game from the people who had to do it, hopefully Monday.. hopefully (finger crossed)

I'm curious, anyone have any idea what sort of textures will be supported for the torchlight editor? Do the torchlight game models use straight diffuse?
I think it would be cool to make a character that fits this style, and place him in the torchlight editor when it is released in a month, which is why I ask.

Other way around for me - my time playing Torchlight has been slowly diminishing, and I've been getting more into Borderlands. I think the one downfall of Torchlight is repetition. I just hit level 26, and to be honest, I'm struggling to find the motivation to keep going.

I've completed it once and got to lvl 32ish on the 2nd char but really dont feel like playing anymore
Oh well, it was a fun 25 hours! Now I wait to play with the editor... or modern warfare 2 in a few days.

I was going to say you should grab Borderlands, but since you're waiting for MW2 to drop, probably not much point! It's well worth checking out if you've got the time, though.
I really enjoyed Torchlight, and it definitely does what it sets out to do really well, but I would have preferred a slightly more engaging version that maybe offered a little more variety in terms of quests, and maybe a stronger plot or some more detailed quest lines. A great game, but it definitely feels like a precursor to something bigger to come, like the MMO they're working on.

I have a question though, will it be possible to get a hold of other Raw animation files once the editor is released?
The reason I ask is because I'm working on a Re-Make of the Construct Character, and it would be cool if I could simply plug in the .Bip files to export the animations to TorchED. Instead of trying to re-create the animations myself.
Could someone please convert the assets to .obj or something? i would really appreciate it as i don't use max. Thank you in advance if anyone does this!
willy-wilson: I can understand your frustration if you are a non max user, but converting all the files to .obj would be a pain in the arse, and it would probably be faster for you to simply install 3ds max yourself.

I downloaded the "Tutorial" pack from Runic's site. The tutorials are pretty bare-bones in terms of presentation, but they are top-notch in terms of content! I went through the weapon exporting tutorial, and they even give you hints as to how to do a paint-over of a weapon image render. Very useful.
I tried Torchlight out, and it's alright! Everything has a nice feel to it when you kill stuff, I dig that. I've only played it a little bit but I'm hoping to give it another go and take a real bite out of it when I can.
One thing I think has room for improvement is the visual style
Its a fun game Liking that i can shoot around with guns in close combat
while spamming spells. Normal is way to easy.
Pet bringing home the loot is pretty clever too i town portaled a lot before
i figured that out.
I dont really like the look of the main characters especially the swordsguy but the mechanics make up to that.
If only i could change the difficulty without having to run thru the entire first dungeon again.

I like normal just the way it is I can relax and not think too much and just romp through the dungeons destroying everything in my path for 30mins which is about all the time Ive got for playing games these days. If it made me play the same part over and over trying to get past I would not even bother playing it through.

I like a little bit of challenge, so I've been playing through on Hard and plan to make my next playthrough on Very Hard. So far it hasn't been too rough, had a few spots here and there where I died a few times, but the deaths are fairly forgiving. I usually choose to respawn at the start of the given level at a low cost of gold over the other two options. The monsters you've killed stay dead so that keeps it from being that big of a deal.
I'm really looking forward to making my own content for it. I think once everything cools down a bit for me I'll work on making an environment set, and maybe a weapon or two.

The editor in it's current state is slightly confusing and fairly buggy, however so far it appears it is easily possible to add to or totally replace any artistic aspect of the game. Gameplay changes seem to be rather limited however, so I wouldn't really expect to be making and mods concerning major or even some minor gameplay changes.
Tried getting a new weapon in today. Didn't work... at all. The documentation doesn't work either since it ends halfway in. "Now it's time to add it ingame"... yeah right.

That one is the most elaborate but there are a few named uniques.
Kinda unfair it's only 249 DPS, considering the Schaeffer's got to put this into Diablo 1 and 2 (the best paladin weapon in the 1.09 patch):

It's a play off of some backlash from the Diablo 3 screens. People wanting it super dark and gritty rather than vibrant and 'cartoony'.
