Did you install a word-filter that changes every instance of 'definately' into 'defiantly'? I just ran across five separate posts that get this wrong, it's beginning to look suspicious!

I learned most of my English from the internet, initially, and there are quite a few mistakes that stubbornly decide to stick with me.
For quite a while I thought 'U' was a polite form of 'you', as it is in dutch!
After a while it dawned on me that the people who wrote that way hardly ever appeared to be too concerned with being either polite or spelling correctly, so that didn't last.

Defiantly would definitely be out of context though.
Indeed, the correct way to misspell definitely is definately or definetely. I guess definetly, definatly, definitly also are good ways to misspell definitely too. It definitely isn't defiantly though.
Edit: I mean misspell "defiantly", for clarity.
Edit 2: By putting "defiantly" in quotation marks there, I don't mean to imply that the first sentence should be read in a sarcastic tone.
For some reason I always tripped up on separate and apparent. Had to use "a rat" and "a parent" as mnemonic devices.

after being completely adamant on this point i've been trawling the net to fucking well prove it, and it turns out "seperate" has been classed as archaic over the past 30 years. Well, no-one told me. And therefore i'm setting out to reclaim it for the modern age.

'attach' some people spell it as 'attatch'

I always cringed when I heard people pronounce diffuse as 'defuse'
I often make stupid spelling/grammar (another commonly misspelled word) mistakes, when I am not paying attention. I facepalm later when I re-read the posts.
I also tried to explain the difference between "disc" and "disk" to my friends the other day. They were definitely not understanding and being defiant. True Story.
