Here's my Axe entry. I wanted to do a Succubus type demonic axe. Maybe make it seem like it would have a status effect that steals life/ charm enemies.
The mouth in the handle is a funny idea. The overall forms/silhouette is fairly smooth/rounded for a demonic design. Similar weapons usually tend to have a lot more jagged parts sticking out.
I think those are some really good points. I originally had the handle a lot shorter before and the succubus seemed large then, but now it definitely needs another pass. I definitely will be working on it's silhouette more.
Thanks for the comments. I definitely will go for another pass tonight if I have time after work.
Finally got a chance to sit down and rework the axe. I basically went ahead and changed the whole head. I tried out only showing half of the body and I think it's working out better. I think the silhouette still needs work, but I'm going to start on the model and sculpt regardless. I feel that deadline is fast approaching!
The blade should look more fearsome. It doesn't look like that could decapitate or bisect a person. If you showed more of the blade, that would help. What will the other side of the model look like?
Finally started on my base mesh in Zbrush. From my concept, I'm going to try to simplify the amount of tiny details I have. It probably will read better overall. I also am planning to change up the handle and play with the overall silhouette.
I agree with nix, the thickness is all fine until you taper down to the edge. It gets very thin very fast. Other then that I am liking where this is going.

JMT: yeah your suggestion was dead on. it looks better with more of the blade exposed.
If I had to say anything, I guess maybe the spikey parts on the blade are starting to look a little thin?
