FINISHED!
Ok, first competition ever, pretty excited. So I think I'm going to try for a hammer, just throwing out ideas. Here's a first batch of thumbnails, I think I will do another batch tomorrow, then start working some favorites up on Friday.
Not really aiming at any specific style yet, they all sound cool. I had a theme in mind while creating some of them. Any thoughts?

Plan of attack for tonight is to get some more exaggerated/cartoony proportions and forms.
I think I've narrowed down my styles. I'm going to do at least 20 thumbs for the maker theme, 20 for the angelic theme, then work up some better versions of #3 (core themed).
Cool Concepts on the second sheet.

PS Big thanks to Bryan Cavett for that shot of Death, I think that's going to be super helpful for everyone.
I can't really say much on what to add.
I did two versions below, one with spikes on the face and one without. I'm sort of torn on this one. On one hand, spikes are bad ass. On the other, spikes might be a little too brutal for the maker style. Also, without spikes make the face stones contrast with the rest of the hammer's ornate-ness. Thoughts?
I think I need to work on how the handle connects to the head, and work on adding some detail of how all the pieces of the head connect. I'll probably incorporate #26's plate and bolt piece on to the most recent one. I also want to accentuate the runes in the middle of the head, and maybe make them glowy.
Hopefully I can have a final block in with a quick paintover of some details done tonight.

-Changed the face of the hammer to 26C (post 19).
-Broke the points off some of the spikes, made the center spike bigger.
-Made the runes in the center of the head glow.
-Adjusted the ornaments on the back of the head; lower poly, better looking.
-New top for the handle, to attach to the head more believably.
-Made the center ornament on the handle smaller, more out of the way. Might need to be removed, hopefully someone from Vigil can chime in on that.
-New pommel.
-Added some connecting plates with bolts. One is on the top of the head to connect the face and center. One is at the back of the handle and bottom of the head (sort of hard to see from this angle). Added the connection plates and bolts to make it a little more functional, and it should read bettter from other angles.
New shot, think I'm pretty much done with the concept phase, but always open to crits and willing to change stuff.
Otherwise I absolutely love it
Something like this:
But maybe a bit more exaggerated to fit the rest of the weapons style.
Still need to fix up the wrap, then I'll be pretty close to done the sculpt.
Got the bake done, and did some work on the diffuse (very WIP). I'm not 100% happy with the model as a whole, but I'm learning a ton of stuff and think I will be able to finish on time. C&C always appreciated.
