well, there's not much to say really, modeling looks clean enough, except for the parts on the curved surface holding the, uh, "trumpet". connect the verts there to remove the mega-gon ;-)
seeing as you seem to be very constrained regarding triangles, you could simplify the small part of the trumpet/speaker thing and save a few edges i guess.
Yeah, I didn't expect much but I had to stick something up :P
Will definately edge up gonzilla, and I simplified the very end of the trumpet, will try a little more and see how it looks!
No high poly for this one, it's a quick and dirty sound tiggle for a handheld game, thanks for the advice!
More coming up later today!
Reduced some of the polys around the horn-join (heh), gonzilla defeated by sheer willpower.
Unwrapping and AO finished, moving on to painting!
God have mercy on our souls!
Thanks for the info Snader, not entirely sure what you're trying to say, but I have reduced the poly where the horn narrows in the same way as your pic.
UPDATE:
Still lots to do, struggling with highlight painting, but I'll get there!
I don't know if the texture for the disc is intentional (the light bounce). My eyes tell me that the disc are bent upwards.
Also if you are willing to reduce more tris in the disc try this trick:
If you are using 3dsmax try to delete all the top faces of the disc then recap the hole then convert to Editable Patch then convert back to Editable Poly. I also assume that you've deleted the unseen faces (bottom part of the disc).
Thanks for the help Hostilis, but the record is bent :P
I think it might be more obvious when there is more detail under it.
the model is going to be a toggle switch for the music in a game a friend of mine is making, so the record will spin, and I thought it would look better if it had a little warp.
Also, since the record is bent, the underside is visible, so I haven't deleted it.
Thanks for going through the trouble of helping out!
Added a baked in reflection, updated some of the highlights, busy working on the metal details, then on to some fancy pants inlays!
This will only be viewed from the top, so the distracting reflection inder the horn won't be visible!
Olli: Sorry, I was thinking brass, but typed bronze, same same
ALMOST FINISHED! This thing has taken WAAAAY to long!
UPDATE: Detail added to base, metal bits finished off, going to add highlights to the detail, maybe add detail to the top of the base and the base of the trumpet, then put it to bed!
Neox: That was an environment map that I baked on to the trumpet, yeah, looks pretty ugly inside, but this is only ever gonig tob e viewed from a very high angle, so I'm not going to waste time hiding it
Thanks for the feedback!

will you be making a high poly?

Good luck.

Edge highlights etc coming soon! Keep the crits coming!
Painting in some more highlights and blue-ish shadows, really struggling with the bronze highlights though...

it's looking pretty cool but not really like a reflection
