My first ever hard surface weapon model.
So areas to improve are very welcome! Thous I probably won't be fixing in this model, and use any advices in next one, as I really can't rebake texture each night for the same crap.
As side note, I know I cloud do better UV and use more UV Space. But I really didn't want to spend another night baking model (or worse day), when I can't anything else but waiting.
While this is definitely not the worst UV packing job that I've ever seen its up there. What are you using to bake your maps if it takes an entire night to do them?

mental ray, I baked with 4 AA (Mitchel) and 4k maps.
But well I have only i5 Quad, so it take a while.
It didn't took entire night, it took about 4h but still... @Asa
Thanks for link! Been looking for something like that, but didn't know what to search for.
Theres a lot of wasted UV space there, pack your UV shells closer together.
If this is gonna be a First Person weapon, then don't be afraid to scale the UV shells of the parts that would be seen most ingame, giving them a little more texture resolution.
You may be better of with a 1:2 sized texture for a weapon like this.
Textures could do with more work too, a base gray texture with 1px dodge lines just doesn't cut it. Also post your spec map, as this is probably the most important texture when doing metal surfaces.

Download xNormal. It literally takes less than a minute to bake almost anything.
