How would I make this shape using Maya?

I'm looking to find out how to do shapes like this, preferrably without a ton of non-planars. I know, I know. A couple non-planar faces aren't a big deal at all, but I think they should be avoided early on, especially when it concerns a lot of hard-surface stuff. Notice how the front end dips down, almost to a point, while the back end is higher up. I don't want to use curves because it's still possible to get an unwanted twist, even if everything is kept planar. So how would I tackle this shape? I'm not doing this model, but a lot of star warsy ships have a very similar "rounded" shape like this one, and I've got a loosely sketched concept I'm looking to model that will require this kind of shape.

Here's what I'm talking about. This ship was designed for the short film "HENRI 2.0" that will be available in a few months. The film uses special effects techniques in the style of memorable 70s science-fiction films.
