Hello everyone!
Please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong section and/or this question isn't appropriate for this forum, but I've basically spent the whole day searching the web for a solution so I told myself to just give it a go in here.
Now to the actual problem:
I've created a simple terrain in Mudbox, as explained in this tutorial by wenda [ame="
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0o3bqoM0Qg"]How to create a terrain for Cryengine and UDK Part 1/8 - YouTube[/ame] and eventually wanted to extract the displacement map for further usage in World Machine.
But even though I'm chosing the right file type (.tif 16 bit), it still displays only 8 bits in the "bits per channel" output option, while it should adjust accordingly to my file type selection.

As a consequence, I'm getting a pretty weird looking terrain on using that (apparently) 8bit heightmap in World Machine/any other program.

So my question is now: Are there any other factors/settings, that could limit my "bits per channel" to 8bit, or what is the reason that it doesn't adapt to my file type selection? Are there any other ways to get rid of that unintended "terrace" effect on the terrain?
Would be glad about some answers and sorry again if this is the wrong place for my questions.
Regards,
CoMa

Try deleting your settings folders and restart mudbox.
C:\Users\---name---\Documents\Mudbox\2011\settings
starting the english one should fix it...
delete the mud settings folder in myDocuments and start the english version after restart...
Much appreciated, you are the best!
