+1. Aren't Vigil developing 40K Online?
This sucks, on so many levels...
DARKSIDERS!!!!!
NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never the less, bad for everyone involved in this.
inb4 EA+Bioware grabs W40K and it is exclusively on origin.
Would be cool if some of the developers bought themselves then went for steam releases.
i need something to punch.
I hope this is a big rumor and expect to see some of the pearls you guys/girls are working on!
Unfortunately, they are in a dire situation right now, so it is believable.
Rumor? thank goodness. If lost myt darksiders I would have resortyed to violenty actyion ( in printy so arresty me )
damm y is styuck tyo my t.
Darksiders is a 2013 release anyway righyt?
It might be a freeze on all future titles. There is a really good chance that THQ already put up the money to get the development through to Beta and this would only effect new games and games that have yet to acquire enough cash to finish this year or next.
well that makes it sound like a rumour, if it is true I better get me some darksiders 2 action >:(
too many studios on the line
recent thqi numbers are definitely not good

I'm sure Bobo can handle himself.
I just hope it's false for everyone's sake. I've never been a fan of how THQ handles themselves but they have some great IPs lately and this would be the worst time for them to go
However THQ have had a hard time since the GFC, this holiday season should have seen some turnaround and payoff for the change in core business that has been carried out.
If i were working for any of the falsely rumoured studios now would be a great time to edge on the side of caution, backup your work, freshen up your folio, make sure your manager knows just how productive and awesome you are, etc.
This seriously got me pissed...
Yea hopefully tomorrow I wont see posts from buddies who are out of a job due to this
I hate rumors...

From my experiences and what I have learned though even if it is just "rumor" that sometimes there is a little truth to these things. Small tidbits of info sneak out and PR / HR does their best jobs of covering it up with saying the claims are false because they have to keep the companies best interests in mind. Keep the ship going no matter what.
My advice, talk it over with your team, see what they have to say. See how your company re-acts going forward. Most importantly BACK UP ALL YOUR WORK!!! I have seen way too many times people not back up their stuff and lose years of work that they can never show off. It's a shame but once those doors are closed behind you. You won't ever see a thing.
Good luck to all...
In many cases they prove more often to be true than not. Sure this one is a big one but I can't help thinking there's something going on.
Maybe not a full on closure but there might well be reductions in the workforce and such depending on how the near future goes. So keep a watchfull eye out fellas (guess you always should even when things seem stable). At least this is what I've learnt/seen during my time in the trade.
THQ has been on a steady decline for a few years... I really hope they figure this out, there are a lot of jobs on the line!
trust us.
I agree with this. In my experience when management starts denying upcoming layoffs or large company changes, it's right around the corner.
But I really hope this is just a rumor. And I'm surprised that THQ hasn't done a better press release denying it. The one they sent out was pretty weak. Even if this is just a rumor this could be a huge disaster for them.
Anyways, back it up, and be prepared but hope for the best.
this... I feel bad about even posting the link :poly127:
Something should happen to him, for sure. I can only imagine the epic shit storm that hit THQ stocks due to a rumor like this.
I remember the Eidos rumors to be completely off-base. It looked like Warner Bros were poised to take over Eidos well before Square Enix did.
I remember Rockstar closure rumors to be off-base. Then the EA hostile takeover to fall short.
Midway's bankrupcy/buyout was very long and drawn out. Atari's was also as predictable. Neither of those studios had a lineup like THQs.
That's the PR depts job.
It is becoming so common that the press can't ignore it, so they run with it. At no point did Kotaku or other blogs quote it as fact. Simply just a rumor.
The problem lies with people and their lack of discretion. With social media and sharing of information being so powerful those with any kind of audience should be careful about speading rumors that can have dire effects. This is the problem with everyone being so interconnected and people wanting to have their opinion heard. Correct or otherwise.
This no different than a watercooler rumor, except people are stupid enough to deploy that chit-chat onto the wenb, where things can spiral out of control.
