The objects you place will be an instance of the source object.
I have never used the foliage system, but if the actor has Location and Rotation, the tool can handle it.
The object must exist in unreal. As you can see in the video, the step one is getting the object's data in unreal. So I can handle that data later in 3ds.

The physic simulation is the best bit.
