Rayman Origins - What you -really- want to be playing next week.

So who's brilliant idea was it to put Michel Ancel's stunningly gorgeous new cartoon platform game out in the same week as Skyrim, Saints Row 3 and Modern Warfare. And hell, probably a pile of other triple As too. It's just depressing that a game with so much personality s going to be inevitably buried by the big boys with their massive marketing campaigns.

How freaking good does it look? I'll tell you how good: Too damn good to disappear in the pre-Christmas game avalanche.

Beautiful looking game. The ubi-art framework looks amazing aswell, I hope they release it to the public at some point.

There are too many games coming out next week though, This does have a well earned place on my christmas wishlist though.

Yeah pretty. Had a play on this at the Eurogamer Expo. People were loving it.

Just played the demo on PSN today, beautiful game (it being 60fps in 1080p is nice too).

I'll probably pick it up on the 360 as it looks awesome. It's a shame it's coming to practically every platform except PC.

A part of me does kinda wish this was a PSN/XBLA title instead of a full $60 release, I'm just curious on the replay-ability to justify my $60. But I will still end up getting it cause it looks fantastic.

Yeah, I feel the same way as well. I'm sure I'll still pick it up but I might end up waiting for a while. Maybe if I end up getting a vita I'll pick it up as a launch title.

Only way you are going to see it in 1080p as well EmAr. Nice thing is (I believe) is that emulator can actually run off the disc in the drive, so you can actually buy the game! I might do that actually, sick of Wii's shit res. Gonna do it with Skyward Sword too.

I could beat muramasa without purchasing wii, but that game is all 2D and not technically intense tho...

It's cool that rayman is still going strong! love ubi's art direction.

No. You'll have to dump your image off with strange unorthodoxial methods.

Also GCN and Wii have small framebuffers so effects like bloom will look like crap in HD, and some renderers render strictly into a small framebuffer so HDifying just any game isn't going to always work.

I love the song that the little insect guys sing when you pick up the king bug. The music is quite reminiscent of Loco Roco which is a huge postive as far as 'm concerned.

I gave it a try yesterday, but my disk drives can't even read the disk. Had difficulty finding any images of games I had except Mariokart, so I'm waiting for that one now. Do want to give it a try - the HD upscaling on the Wii with the HDMI cable looks really bad as it is, so it'd be nice to see if the emulator can do better.

So I've so far put...maybe 15+ hours in this game so far (still have way more to go if I wanna platinum it)..but honestly. This game, is probably my game of the year for 2011. I love Dark Souls, I love Skyrim and Uncharted 3 and Witcher 2 and Portal 2. But I have not had this much fun playing a game in a REALLY long time. Especially co-op. The art is by far some of the most beautiful I have ever seen not only in a side scroller but all year. The amount of detail in every prop is astounding! Not only that every level is completely insane and you have absolutely no idea what to expect next and there are such insane set piece moments that can make Uncharted 3 blush. I thught Donky Kong Country Returns would be the best 2d platformer for a long time, but Rayman origins dethroned him.

EVERYONE BUY THIS GAME! 10/10

I got this for the family for christmass, and my wife and daughter have been playing it non stop..on top of what Eric said, the music is also just brilliant. ...do yourself a favor and get this game, it's worth every penny!!

Yes, this game deserves your money! I read it sold 50.000 in the first week which will surely mean nothing like this will ever see the light of day again

You can blame Ubisoft for putting it up against Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Saint's Row 3 and whatever else it was that came out in that week.

UK people - it's cheap in game, 20 notes when bought with anything else. I got it when stocking up on a half dozen games for Xmas, and it's outstanding.

It has plenty of Rayman pedigree, with shades of Sonic in there.

9/10 for me.

Also love the game, haven't finished it yet but some of the art + music is very memorable and beautiful

will be sure to get back to it once I got a bit more time left. Would also advice everyone to buy it and if you really want to play it on the computer you can make use of the dolphin emulator.

Got Rayman Origins game for christmas--it's a fantastic CO-Op game that's had me and my wife in tears from laughing. You can tell the dev team definitely had fun making this title!

Hmm I've been playing through this game quite a lot over lunch time the past few weeks, and whilst it is awesome, it is also infuriating. Some of the last levels are mind-bogglingly difficult. Still, it's a great game overall

I bought this for 360 release day, and played it to death. Still not finished it though - some time trials and the last tricky treasure to get still, before doing the last bit of completionism.
